The exotic class item added the ability to gain rank with a faction faster. If they still did the vendor event that would mean something, but considering that the faction vendors aren't even a thing anymore, that perk goes out the window. The other perk was each item had it's own transmat effect when you landed or were revived. I remember grinding out all 3 factions for each character and getting the 9 exotic class items. My dumbass thought our gear would move forward like Bungie was saying. After the bullshit Red War excuse to get rid of our gear, never again. I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen if there is a D3. I don't think people would have cared if they didn't decide to make us grind out the same exotic gear again.

Problem is, the bonus faction rep isn't an exotic bonus at all, it's just more rep. We have ghost shells and consumables and whatever else for that. Also its not like factions we're relavent for much of d1 either, they had a few notable guns like TTK's hung jury and that's about it. Having bonus faction rep when you're already 50 was useless. As for transmat effects well those are in d2 anyway. And the life of the exotic perk was just dumb. Like i said I'm not against exotic class items or anything, I just want them to be actually exotic. Like a hunter Cape that's on fire and makes throwing knives explode on impact. An actual exotic, like all the others we have.

Probs should have worded my post a bit better. I meant you should earn them the way you did in D1 (Rank 25 with the faction vendors). There should definitely be added perks if they were to be introduced, even if it were just having the ability to change their affinity at the drop of a hat, so you can change your builds without having to change to a legendary class item.
