Lore Questions

1) There is a known nightmare weapon coming from the new dungeon. That probably means there is at least one new nightmare. Is there any hint who it is? Oryx? Valus Ta'aurc? Sepiks? Mindbender? Nokris? Ir Halak? Ir Anuk? Alak-Hul? Malok? Aksis? 2) Are Crota's children really attempting to revive Oryx? I know many people are speculating on that, but are they really? 3) If they are planning to revive Oryx, could Nokris be involved? We know he practices necromancing. Could he be teaching them? Or maybe just something they picked up along the way due to lack of leadership and no clear direction? 4) What is the fate of Nokris? Did he have an ascendant realm? He came out of a portal. Makes me think we haven't seen the last of him. 5) Could more pyramid ships be scattered throughout the system? It took us until now to find the one on the moon. For example, could one be on Io? Titan? Etc. 6) Are Xivu Arath and Savathun really working together? I know in the ascendant challenges, Toland hints to it. I thought all the siblings were fighting one another. 7) Is Taniks still alive? I know we fought a nightmare of him, but not him directly. 8) What is the Fanatic doing? Will he try and make new Scorn barons one day and claim revenge on us? I think it would be cool if Fikrul was going around reviving dead Fallen we've killed like Vosik, Siviks, Taniks, Skolas, etc. That'd be a mean army. 9) What is Eramis doing? With her failed attempt on getting SIVA in the old tower, will she continue to go after it? To me I think she will head to Nessus and we may have a DLC next year where Nessus turns into a Plaguelands type of thing. 10) Anything new with our buddy Uldren? 11) What's going on with the surviving conspirators against Calus? Umun'arath? Caiatl? Are they still loyal to the Red Legion? 12) Are the Vex working for the pyramid ships and the Darkness? The statue in the raid makes me think they are. 13) Can Dredgen Yor be revived? I know in lore entries Shin Malphur communicates with his ghost. If the Ghost is alive, can he be? 14) Last but not least, is anything new with Efrideet? I feel like D2, besides a small lore tab where she fought to retake the city, has done her no justice.

Ill focus on the Hive stuff. I believe the new dungeon will be The Pit from The Inquisition lore tabs. I think that knight is either Zulmak or some experiment the Daughters dreamed up. I believe they are trying to ressurect Oryx. The Inquisition talks about them bending the rules of Sword Logic and studying Nokris' necromancy. Nokris is likely stranded in his Throne with no one to define him. My spinfoil theory on all this is that the Daughters of Crota are trying to ressurect Oryx using a combination of Logic and necromancy. We go in and eliminate the unworthy would-be King in The Pit in a great show of will.(the lore tab posted mentioned our will) They do some Deathsong/necromancy -blam!-ery and use our will to define Oryx? Idk its a mad rant in progress. Im sure Archival will eat me alive. Forgot about the Xivu question. The Hive war with eachother out of love. The more their hordes kill eachother the stronger they become. They could not be the "gods" they are without adhering to their true natures. For Savathun this is cunning and treachery, for Xivu this is war.

Mindbender? Nokris? Ir Halak? Ir Anuk? Alak-Hul? Malok? Aksis?
No hints. We don’t know what any other Nightmares will be.
2) Are Crota's children really attempting to revive Oryx? I know many people are speculating on that, but are they really?
No. Crota’s daughters had faith that Crota and Oryx aren’t truly dead, but no attempts were made to revive them because it’s more complicated than waving your hands and shouting “Boop-bop-a-doop!” https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/x-faith-in-bone#book-inquisition-of-the-damned
3) If they are planning to revive Oryx, could Nokris be involved? We know he practices necromancing. Could he be teaching them? Or maybe just something they picked up along the way due to lack of leadership and no clear direction?
No, Nokris is not involved. They despise Nokris because he defies true death with necromancy. If Oryx is revived it will not be necromancy.
4) What is the fate of Nokris? Did he have an ascendant realm? He came out of a portal. Makes me think we haven't seen the last of him.
He was Ascendant, though he might not have had his own Throne World. I don’t know if he’s truly dead or if he’s still alive.
5) Could more pyramid ships be scattered throughout the system? It took us until now to find the one on the moon. For example, could one be on Io? Titan? Etc.
Highly doubtful. There’s the one on the Moon (which was there long before the Collapse happened). The rest of the fleet is coming.
6) Are Xivu Arath and Savathun really working together? I know in the ascendant challenges, Toland hints to it. I thought all the siblings were fighting one another.
They work together and fight each other. They always have.
7) Is Taniks still alive? I know we fought a nightmare of him, but not him directly.
He might still be alive, but if he is then he’s in hiding and no one knows.
8) What is the Fanatic doing? Will he try and make new Scorn barons one day and claim revenge on us? I think it would be cool if Fikrul was going around reviving dead Fallen we've killed like Vosik, Siviks, Taniks, Skolas, etc. That'd be a mean army.
The Fanatic is still reviving himself and the Scorn, but they’re defeated and the Guardians make sure they stay down.
9) What is Eramis doing? With her failed attempt on getting SIVA in the old tower, will she continue to go after it? To me I think she will head to Nessus and we may have a DLC next year where Nessus turns into a Plaguelands type of thing.
She’s gathering followers and trying to rebuild Devils. We have the Outbreak Perfected now, so she has no current reason to invade the Tower again.
10) Anything new with our buddy Uldren?
No
11) What's going on with the surviving conspirators against Calus? Umun'arath? Caiatl? Are they still loyal to the Red Legion?
They’re controlling the Cabal Empire.
12) Are the Vex working for the pyramid ships and the Darkness? The statue in the raid makes me think they are.
No. The Vex of the Black Garden worship the Darkness to gain power, but that’s it.
13) Can Dredgen Yor be revived? I know in lore entries Shin Malphur communicates with his ghost. If the Ghost is alive, can he be?
Possibly.
14) Last but not least, is anything new with Efrideet? I feel like D2, besides a small lore tab where she fought to retake the city, has done her no justice.
No

        1. It’s probably one of the Hive Knights or warriors mentioned in Inquisition of the Damned. 2. Yes. Yes they really are 3. Why would the exiled son of Oryx that everyone hates be involved? We just got a glimpse of other forces that can bring back beings. The Darkness. He’ll be back as a Nightmare. 4. Nokris? Of course he has an Throne World. All Ascendant Hive, especially the offspring of the Taken King himself, have Throne Worlds. 5. Did you not see the Vanilla Destiny 2 campaign end cutscene? 6. If they were anything worth their salt? That would be the smart choice. 7. The only reason a Nightmare of Taniks exists is because he died. We killed him. Back in D1. Same for Skolas. 8. Like I said..Nightmare means their dead. The Fanatic is actually dead. 9. I’m not touching this one. 10. NOPE. Not my buddy. Shouldn’t be yours either. 11. No word on them, really.. 12. The Sol Divisive are and always have been agents of the Darkness. They worship it. 13. No. He can’t. His Ghost be dead. So he also be dead. Same as Cayde.

        • 1. If I had to guess from the trailer it's that one Hive knight from prison of elders. The flame prince 2. Well... They're trying to find a replacement while some wise asses think if they commit heresy he'll come back but if he doesn't that means they're totally qualified to survive. The Hive are very soar losers 3. Again they're not actually reviving his corps, rather they're doing the same thing Oryx did to his sister's. Reviving them through an act that defines them. Nokris' wouldn't help, or maybe he would just to piss off his father? Who knows if he's even still alive 4. I sincerely hope he's still alive. He's a necromancer which means he might still be alive regardless of not having a throne world? The laws of necromancy have never been really explained despite the fact Nokris, fikrul, and the Guardians do it all the time 5. It's possible? However if there were then I'd imagine the one on the moon would try and lead us to the others instead of forcing us to travel through the black garden 6. Man this is complicated. For the hive love is war, and while the sisters have the same goal in mind I'm sure they don't have an alliance rather an agreement that "hey we should probably kill these guys". Xivu is god knows where fight god knows what, while savathune is laughing at us from a distance 7. Possibly? If he was I imagine he'd have something to say about his ship crashing on the moon and a nightmare of him running around. Then again maybe he's perma dead since Siva was destroyed 8. Fikrul is still alive and I think it's implied that the Barons are also still kicking around. While the Fanatic is kinda trapped by his own obsession for vengeance, challenging us to a fight everytime he gets back up and then immediately dying, I think the rest of his crew just kinda lays low? Again I have no idea if the Barons are still alive or not, the flashpoint says that we gotta help spider take down the Barons again but other then that we never get any mention of them 9. Well since her last 2 schemes went south (Siva and capturing the EAZ) I'm sure she's waiting for her time to strike. Recruiting anyone who'll join the house of devil's while making small advances that won't alert any unwanted attention 10. Welp... Nope. I'm almost positive the next time we see him it will be a re-created moment of that one cutscene we saw before Destiny 1 released. The whole "out here in the wild this is how we talk" thing. I hope he becomes our buddy 11. Well..? The Red legion is absolutely -blam!-ed and an utter embarrassment to the Cabal empire. I'd imagine that the other conspirators are running the empire in Ghual's absence 12. Yes and no. The Sol divisive are unique in which they're the only Vex subtype that actively worships the Darkness. Naturally when they got a signal from the moon pyramid ship they thought to themselves "our god is calling us, let's roll out" 13. Yes, his Ghost can still pick him up but as long as his Ghost is still alive nothing else can 14. I agree completely that she needs more lore, but no. She's still hanging out with her pacifist Guardians, the hippy

          • 1.)
SYLOK! THE DEFILED!
2.) I'm implied they can't revive his entirety, but that won't stop them from trying anyways. Curiously, I wonder how that will affect his worm since he wouldn't be revived by fellow hive gods. 3.) How many of them have we slain anyways? Most if not all of Crota's children have been Deathsingers or at least Wizards with Hashladun being the most prominent. We just going to hack away at his whole lineage at this point? 4.) He better be involved. His introduction was anticlimactic. 5.) Possibly on Mars, but I heavily doubt they're anywhere the Hive aren't. 6.) Never trust Toland. 7.) For his sake, he better be. 8.) Fikrul likely can't get a hold of Skolas's body or Tankis's. Even if he did, they'd probably have enough sense of will (or at least Taniks) to rebel or defect. 9.) I imagine Eramis pulling an Asher tbh. 10.) Still stuck in that time loop iirc. 11.) Getting their butts kicked across the system. 12.) Sol Divisive might be if nothing else. Vex seem like a chaotic neutral enemy overall. 13.) By his ghost? Probably not. I think there's a certain window of time where a (former) Guardian can be revived and he's long past that. 14.) Dunno much about her in general. Never played RoI. Probably still chucking Saladin at the occasional enemy if memory serves me correct.

          • For 3: Oryx would be revived within the sword logic’s rules. Supposedly through navigation/discovery as both xivu and savathun were revived through their traits of war and cunning.

          • The boss is a Nightmare Cayde 6 in a flying Drake Tank and the exotic is a dark version of Ace of Spades called A Case of Aids. Precision kills create a cloud of hive wizard fog.

          • 1. There haven't been any hints. We've seen the flaming knight in trailers, but whether that's the final boss or a sub-boss remains to be seen. 2. That seems to be the case, yes. At the very least they're strongly considering it. 3. There hasn't been any mention of Nokris as far as I know. Understand there's a difference between Crota's children wanting to revive Oryx or attempting to revive him, and such a thing being actually, you know, possible. They might attempt to bring him back metaphorically rather than physically as well. 4. Perhaps. Since his abilities apparently fly in the face of the Sword Logic, it's possible that he doesn't have a throne world. 5. Not impossible, but unlikely. 6. It's possible. 7. Taniks is dead as far as we know, but that tends to be a temporary state for him. 8. The Fantatic is continuing to get murdered by Guardians on the regular, but I'm sure he probably has some plans besides getting killed over and over again. 9. We don't know her current whereabouts, but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of her. 10. Nope 11. Last we've heard of, yes. 12. The Sol Divisive worships The Darkness. 13. Maaaaaybe? 14. We got a bit of backstory with her and The Drifter, but nothing current.

          • <1. Dunno. Probably Oryx (which would -blam!- the Taken army sideways) or Nokris. 2. I interpret it more as "keeping him alive" from a metaphysical pov. 3. Nokris hates Oryx, Oryx hates Nokris. None of them would resurrect the other unless acted upon by an outside force. 4. His brood contacted Savathun, and that's the last canonical thing we've heard from his group. 5. This one seems to be intentionally placed literal billions of years ago. While it's possible that others may be scattered about, I think the one we should be worried about is the one we have now. 6. Probably. Savathun loves her pawns. 7. Depends. 8. Honestly as long as we keep a lock on the Fanatic he ain't going anywhere. 9. Maybe. She's trying to resurrect the old House of Devils, and will do a lot to get there, as evidenced by her ATTEMPT to steal SIVA. 10. Not so far. 11. The Red Legion is loyal to the Empire, Ghaul just led them into battle as he did when he wasn't Dominus. They are probably trying to gather everything so that the Empire doesn't fall apart without its temp Emperor. 12. The Sol Divisive programming (the Black Garden ones) are worshipping the Darkness. The rest of the Collective does not and regularly gets into conflict with the SD because of their differences. The main Collective wants to eliminate Light and Dark entirely. The Sol Divisive wants to achieve Convergence with Darkness. 13. Please stop. 14. Not so far.>
