if you mash your buttons it doesn’t work. they explained it in a twab at some point, it’s actually safety mechanism that’s gotten a bit out of hand, it was intended to prevent accidental quitting. if the rest of your controller is receiving inputs it will cancel your attempt to leave queue

Yeah nobody is mashing their entire controller. This explanation was for applying mods or using consumables. It didn't (or shouldn't outside of Bungie's fabricated reality) affect leaving matchmaking. In fact, a safety mechanism for that should remove you from matchmaking if it remotely detects the exit button. The button just doesn't work 85% of the time, probably because of Bungie's shitty CompuServe network not being able to detect inputs.
