Many innocent lives were murdered because of the terrorism.
Many innocent lives were taken in WWII, Vietnam, or for causes due to drinking, drugs, driving, etc. Yet there are tons of jokes involving those topics. Humor is a normal human method of coping with the world. Is it not just as healthy as crying and lying in your bed all day remembering 9/11 happened even though you probably remotely have no relation to anyone who knows or is related to anyone who actually was in New York at the time of 9/11? Right dark humor is funny people here are way to sensitive

The jokes are fine, but on the anniversary of something like this it’s important to be respectful. It’d be more appropriate to make the joke a day or so before or after, not on the actual day. It’d be like walking into your office building that had a shooting a few years ago that day and start cracking jokes about mass shootings. Just isn’t ok.
-
I joked about setting fires at a factory the very day I had to put out a fire that was over 6 feet tall. We all deal differently
-
But did you make that joke before or after the fire? Context plays an important role in dark humor. 9/11 was a terrorist attack that resulted in thousands of deaths, injuries, and billions of dollars in damage. This was a purely evil attack by someone who changed the world forever. People treating its anniversary like a holiday to crack jokes about planes crashing into buildings isn’t much of a justifiable thing.
-
Ok let me try to explain it like this. Let's say a comedian makes a joke about having forcey-fun-time with Big Bird, and he says it's Big Bird's fault for dressing like a sloot, walking around without any pants on. Does that mean the comedian thinks that all women get forcey-fun-timed are at fault? In my opinion the answer is NO, he's making fun of the people who believe that. So OP isn't making fun of 9/11 victims, he's making fun of the conspiracy nuts that believe that stuff.
-
After, and I understand that context is key.
-
I’d agree to an extent. The anniversary of a terrible event would cause emotions to flow.

I avoid the internet and media around the release of a movie because I know people are going to prematurely talk about it. That’s reality. If I surf the net and encounter spoilers and continue to read them out of curiosity, I’d be a hypocrite for blaming the people spoiling it, because it was my fault I read it in the first place. So, take my advice, and calm down. Take a break from the internet if you find the internet is breaking you. You can’t control others, only yourself.
Thus says the Void
