A Demon's Rising: The Birth of a New King

*Rex slowly opened his eyes, and saw to his right the man in the same outfit, same dark trench coat, same red scarf, same black top-hat.* "Ah, the behemoth awakes!" The man held up his arms and said. "Wha... what happened?" Rex asked. "You passed out. Couldn't bear the transformation." The man explained. "The... transformation?" Rex repeated as he got up, still groggy from waking up. As he stood to his full height, the man seemed smaller than before. "Perhaps it's better to see." The man said. The man then snapped his fingers, and a 10' tall mirror appeared at his side. "Wha-what the?!" Rex exclaimed as he saw his reflection. *Rex saw in the mirror the face of a demon. His skin was slightly scaly. It was dark-red, with blue, or rather, Deep energy coursing through his veins, glowing through the skin. He had pointed ears, and sharp, red eyes. He had no facial hair, but his normal hair on his head was black. His teeth were pointed, like that of a vampire. The next thing he noticed were two huge wings attached at his soldier blades. They had a wingspan of 10', and we're dark-red, pulsing with Deep energy, just like his skin. As he tested them, they felt powerful, capable of lifting him off the ground a few inches with just a few small flaps. As he looked down at the ground, he noticed his hands and feet had changed too. He now had claws instead of fingers and toes, and they looked dangerously sharp.* "I've... I've transformed into... a demon?" Rex asked. "Yes you have, my boy. Yes you have. Go on! Give your new body a try. Fly around, punch stuff, get used to your new weight and power." *Following the man's advice, Rex decided to test his wings first. He drew them high up, then thrust them to the ground quickly. He flew into the sky at sonic speed, causing the mirror to shatter and the man to throw up his arms to block the wind. Rex continued to flap his new wings, enjoying the feeling of boundless flight. As he was flying, he punched and kicked to get a feel for his new limbs. With every punch, he could feel a slight shockwave being let out by his fists. After getting used to his body, he flew back down to the man.* "I was startled at first, but now I realize I must thank you. This new body is amazing. It feels free and powerful." Rex thanked the man. "Ah, it was nothing. But you're welcome. However, you have more concerns than thanking me." The man said with a serious tone. "Concerns? What do you mean?" Rex asked. "First off, I believe I haven't properly introduced myself. I am Ardyn Izunia, the first Demon King." Ardyn said, tipping his hat. "Demon King?" Rex repeated. "Yes, demon king. However, I have long since retired. I've let others take my place. But you, my son. You are special. You have my own blood running through you." Ardyn explained. "Your own blood. You mean-?" Rex asked. "Yes. I am your ancestor, and you have the blood of the First Demon King running through you. I imagine you can understand the kind of power and authority this gives you." Ardyn said. "But... how? Neither of my parents were demonic in the slightest." Rex asked, confused. "And you wouldn't have been demonic either, had you not eaten that seed. You see, demon blood lies dormant in humans. It won't show itself unless activated. The Deep activated your demon blood, causing it to fight back against the Deep. You would've died by the resulting battle had I not come along. Luckily, I stopped the battle and brought the two into harmony. Now, you have the power equivalent to the King of the Deep, and you have the power of the King of Demons. Surely you understand what you might be capable of." Ardyn explained. Rex simply nodded. "Good. Now, you may have the power of the King of Demons, but with great power comes great challenge. People, and not just humans, will come to challenge you, trying to kill you before you get too powerful. Take it from me. You cannot fight off the armies of the world by yourself. You must train your own army." Ardyn said. "Train my own army? Hmmm...." Rex was deep in thought. "I'll leave this process to you. Try testing around in this realm!" Ardyn said. Ardyn then opened a red portal, and walked through it, leaving Rex alone in the realm. "Wait! Don't go! Where are you going!" Rex called after him. No response. "Hmm... Try testing around in this realm?" Rex talked to himself as he thought. "I wonder..." *Rex raised his hand. As he did so, the sand in front of him was raised in the air.* "Hmmm.... In that case... I wonder if..." *Rex started moving his hands, and imagining an image in his mind. As he did so, the image came to life, and cannons began to emerge from the sand. He summoned walls and defenses, hallways and corridors, as he slowly began to build his fortress. Then, a sudden idea popped into his head.* "Oh yes. Oh this will work quite well." Rex said to himself. "Time to get to work."
