Competitive is Genuinely Unplayable

I’m certainly not the best player out there, not by a long shot. But I’m still going to give my two cents on the issue because there’s no reason otherwise. Comp has been rendered essentially unplayable solo due to broken matchmaking pairing full stacks against scattered individuals and horrible balance when it comes to certain mechanics. Lord of Wolves shouldn’t do more damage at medium range than a heavy grenade launcher of all things, fusion rifle shots shouldn’t be able to curve around doors at random, and for the love of all that is holy fix one eyed mask as it has three equally powerful exotic perks making it a tad ridiculous. Certain maps (why hello there Equinox) are simply not optimized for 4v4 comp play as at least in my limited experience it leads to either a mad scramble across a vast plane or just bottlenecking. Please don’t be under the assumption that I just want to win absolutely every match I’m ever in, that wouldn’t be fun and sorta defeats the purpose of comp. The reason I make this post is that when I do win it’s often a steamroll over a hapless enemy or when I lose our team is the one who is rolled over. There hasn’t been a single tight game that I recall and it makes the sparse wins even more frustrating than the defeats.

    Amen to that. I've been trying to farm the Recluse quest. I don't consider myself a good PvP player but I'm not bad. I have more than 1k hours on D1 and I'm pretty agile with a Hand Cannon. Soloing those F****in quest is already super hard in itself. So when I manage to have a 2-3 win streak and it all get f***ed by stupid matchmaking it's really upsetting. I know it's not easy to balance a MMO and I'm not insulting the devs or anybody but PLEASE just change the system so that it doesn't allow to match solo player versus a team of 3 or 4. Especially in Countdown when communication is a huge advantage. That is not difficult in itself and can be done with a p2p matchmaking based system. I honestly prefer 2 hours of queuing and having a balanced game that a 1min queue and getting rolled over by a synchronized team of 4 with Recluse and Jothun. And i see people coming "[i]It's not meant to be played solo[/i]". I don't agree with that, if I can queue solo, it's also meant for solo player.

It really just makes the game feel like a lottery, and like no skill on your part matters. Either you get effed badly, or you're the one not using lube telling other guardians to bite pillows. Im on 1982 Glory points, and because I know how bad matchmaking is I'd rather just wait for weekly reset bonus (1982 + 120 = 2102) to get Fabled for Recluse and Luna than actually play the game and go back down to 1500. That is REALLY bad game-design if you ask me. It's supposed to be fun and rewarding to play, not... whatever this gamemode is.

      • It's called peer 2 peer connection. People think they are good at PvP have failed to realize it is NOT them it's their connection

      • Here’s a tip. If you lose two matches in a row...STOP. It’s not your day. Do strikes, a raid, quickplay. Only keep going when you’re winning.

          • Bump and Addendum Competitive while containing a myriad of fun game modes (chief of which is the trials facsimile) is also bogged down by mindless shitslogs like control which while fun as 6v6 are made simply painful in your average 3v4 lobby that comp breeds
