Gambit Game Mode Concept

The Drifter needs a lot more motes, guardian! Let's help with that! P1neAppl3 put up a post about his Gambit game mode "ZIGGURAT", so I thought I'd give making a game mode a try. I'll link his post here if I can figure out how to... https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/252886384?sort=0&page=0 The Final Gambit game mode is different because it isn't a race. The two teams have one goal. Survive. Each team has a large map to themselves, and enemies work in a wave system. The waves get stronger and stronger as levels progress. But if you're not summoning the primeval, what do you gather motes for? Motes are collected differently here. When you collect a mote, it gives each player on your team a mote. This is to prevent stealing motes from your own allies. You cannot drop motes in this game mode either. Motes can be delivered to banks all over the map, and between waves, you can use them to purchase things for yourself or for the enemy team. For your team, you can purchase heavy and special ammo. You can also purchase a rally flag for your team to use. Also the purchase system can allow you to get Valkyrie spears, swords of Crota, Scorch Cannons, or any enemy weapon we have used before. Also since this is a bigger map, you can purchase combat vehicles like Interceptors, Pikes, or Drakes. If you want to be bad guys though, you can purchase modifiers for the enemy team. Things like Blackout or Iron can be dropped on the enemy team for enough motes. Also, you can still send blockers if you'd like. You can also purchase yourself invasion time. Invading is very critical in this game mode because of the scariest part of it... Each player has a limited number of respawns and revives. Invaders do not lose a respawn if they are killed during their invasion, so people don't hesitate to invade. The enemy team will need to watch their back though, as invaders could steal a large number of their revives or respawns. While I said this isn't a race, killing waves quickly will still be a priority. Because gathering motes quickly will give you a noticeable edge over the other team. Whichever team completes the most waves before dying out wins. The only problem I see is that if one team dies early, the other team may be able to go on for quite a while. So if one team dies, the game will instantly end once the surviving team passes them in waves or dies themselves. This is a very long game mode if both teams are experienced, which means this game mode has to be very rewarding. Handing out rewards isn't my job though! So I'll leave that up to whoever wants that job! Now I'm going to sit here...and wait for all the Gambit haters to sacrifice me to whatever god they worship. Edit: This is where I will put the ideas either suggested down there, or I come up with! P1neAppl3 came over! Hi P1neAppl3! He asked what would happen if players in a team died and had to watch their teammates for a very long period of time. Here's my idea for that part. Players that are completely out of the game are still able to be in the game because they still get their share of the split motes, and while they can't fight anymore, they can purchase items for their teams. And maybe they can still collect motes themselves as well. Not sure how balanced or even entertaining this idea would be, but it's my thought of what could be done. This problem was also brought up by worm1605. I know this is a big problem in the game mode plan, so balancing this will need to be considered. Handgun Peter and A BRR IN A CAVE mentioned possible invader problems. As Handgun Peter mentioned, invades will be expensive. They can turn the tides of an entire game, so they need to be pricey. A BRR IN A CAVE mentioned that having no loss for invading could be a problem, so I agree that this part may need to be balanced more. BL00DBEARD GR1M suggested that invades be at the same time and use random players. I can't say I agree with the idea, but it would be good for balancing purposes. Invading should be something a team plans on. They should be preparing their invader to invade, and the enemy team should be preparing to shut the invader down. I do agree that each player should only be able to invade once per game though. P1neAppl3 also asked how the banking system would work. Basically various banks will be all over the map, and when you get close to one to deposit, you can see what they do in simple text like "send Blackout to enemy team" or "purchase a rally flag". Memorizing the map and the bank placement will probably be very helpful in high level play of this mode. Tiger had an idea for this mode in which you could summon helpful NPCs. This is too good of an idea not to add to this mode. Get down there and give him a pat on the back! And more ideas I have: Maybe start the map off small and have players open up more of the map with their motes? That way new players have time to explore the rooms before the next is open. Have an upgrade table where players can purchase the perks of Gambit Prime armor for the rest of the game. With all the banks around, this will make sentry and invader sets considerably more powerful though. This needs more thought, but I like the idea. Hire an assassin. You can spend motes to hire a powerful boss to fight the enemy team. This will be very pricey. There is an assassin for each enemy race, and they are different from blockers in that they have special gimmicks tied to defeating them. Having just the right modifiers with the right assassin could really shut down the enemy team if they aren't prepared, so this can be a strategic move. Each assassin can only be hired once though, so plan each hire carefully! Special thanks to Tiger down in the replies section for making the basis to this with his idea of summoning friendly NPCs!
