Making Destiny 2 just "Destiny" and being the foundation of an amazing game it already has become and continue to make it grow would be amazing. Don't you guys think so? I would love to hear everyones thoughts on the matter if there should even be a D3.
-
No. Because within a year or two, Bungie will hit the technological limits of what this current generation of console hardware can do....and will struggle to expand the game any further. They ran into the same problem PS3 and XB360 in year 3 of Destiny 1. That same wall is coming wtih the curent machines. There needs to be a Destiny 3...and there needs to be an engine change and a switch to dedicated servers. That way you remove a LOT of the burden of running the game from console hardware....and you dramatically expand Bungie's ability to grow the game. But this game will eventually hit its head against a technology ceiling....and within a few years will likely look and feel dated compared to what the next gen hardware is claiming to be able to do.

D2 is gonna go until the file size is too big. D3 is faaaaaar off.
-
I find it funny how people started calling the first game "Destiny 1" after the launch of the second title.
-
Yes.
-
I feel like they are going to release destiny on the next generation of consoles as a compilation of d1 and d2 and and just build upon that. They way they are with d2 currently, it doesn't seem like they intend to release another destiny game. That might have been the original goal with destiny, but Activision said otherwise. We'll never know.
-
No, this sad game shouldn't be called Destiny out of respect for the original Destiny, a proper game.
-
I think that there should be a D3 but it should bring all of our stuff forward with it. Just so that bungie can update their engine if they need to. That’s my thought, feel free to disagree, I will not argue.
-
File size would be far too large. If that weren't a problem, I'd be all for it.
-
I definitely agree with this. D2 is finally in a good place, and really should just become Destiny... reintroduce D1 stuff, progress forward with the narrative, snail's pace as it may be, and continue onward. That, and I just really don't want to deal with a Destiny 3 being in beta for Y1, cuz it 100% will be just like D1 and D2. =/
-
I personally think they should focuse in D3 right now, and produce it to make it to be able to merge with D2. They should also try to remaster D1 and merge it with D2. Then, rename D2 as Destiny. It would probably be like a 200gb file though.
-
I’d rather Bungie continue with D2 and if there’s a limit to the size it can reach? Then I’d ask for old content, not being used anymore, to be removed for new content.
-
It looks like they want to do this but I have also heard them speak about the limits of how much you can actually put in a game before you max out the capability of in particular consoles. A game can't keep expanding forever until it hits a system limitation wall. I imagine this is less of an issue with PCs of course. And the next gen of consoles will expand limitations. But if next gen was the solution then at some point all of us on current gen would likely be faced with expansions that are not supported until we buy new hardware.
-
That's not possible unfortunately, eventually Bungie won't be able to add anymore content to D2 due to size restraints
-
No it’s Bungie why would they do that
-
Editado por Sunsthetic: 6/20/2019 1:40:37 PMto be honest fron past exp, i wouldn't even buy d3 on release date. maybe after 2 or three years once bungie has already digged themselves out of the third pile of shit they fell into because they decided to make us start fresh plus the lack of content.
-
I would agree if they did this to D1. I don’t like D2.
-
No, foundation is too old. They need to get a new engine and release D3 on next gen consoles. D3 could just be called “Destiny” though
-
Editado por blade329: 6/20/2019 2:11:25 PMD2 is probably in the best state it's ever been. There's plenty to do and the loot has improved a lot. That being said, I still like Destiny 1 better. I still don't feel anywhere near as powerful in D2. Which is probably the stupidest thing I have seen in a game design in a long time. Who the hell wants to be less powerful in a game like this???
-
You're not actually suggesting that Bungie sticks to the same faulty infrastructure and outdated specs when two new consoles are around a year away?
-
Nah, I want to see a Destiny game built by Bungie from the ground up with no external influencers. Let’s see their fullest potential realized. With new hardware coming next year too, they will be able to do a lot more with a Destiny game that is powered by next gen tech
-
No, we need a new engine. I know how console players feel about no 60fps, and that won't be happening in the current gen consoles. D3 should be released and that should be the one that is expanded upon. It can be the reset button for the franchise with no Activision influence whatsoever. I understand how people don't want to lose all their stuff they have earned, but I feel as though it needs to happen and D3 should have nothing from previous games brought over unless they are very important lore items.
-
Nope, D2 feels like sloppy version of D1. S1 movement was way better and so was its armour and weapons, the inventery felt better too. The way you upgraded weapons and armour was a lot better too, along with the qeust tab. Subclasses were amazing and more balanced, things like bubble and feather were necessary for bosses and the customization was more personalized. D3 needs D1 feel with a combination of the D1 and Dw loot system.

If they want to make a D3 I’m totally cool with it. Now if we could keep the same guardian and progress that would be great but then what would be the point of making another separate game then just keep adding it into D2? If they are gonna make a D3 I think we should have to start from scratch. That’s just my opinion though.
-
There will be a point when d3 is needed Console limitations on ps4\ Xbox one will happen at some point
-
I mean a new destiny game would be nice. One that keeps the feel of the originals but changes the fundamental infrastructure to improve the "always online" experience. That being said I'm sure a 70gb update could achieve the same results if they were willing. Imo I'd be down for that.
