There needs to be a penalty of sorts

For players who go into gambit or other activities and don't do anything. I'm tired of having matches where people just sit in front of the invade portal and waste them or just don't do anything at all just because they want the powerful gear. Edit: I get it, not everyone likes gambit. But ruining the experience for other players is scummy and the reason gambit is getting to be so toxic.

  • No people too focused on get motes and never bother killing the enemy when they have too many. It annoying when people only get motes the invade and never get a kill when the other side has all there moves or worst when yr team invader is trying to kill the other team with a shitty power weapon

Believe me, a lot of us would love nothing more than to never set foot in any pvp content again. I absolutely despise pvp and anything pvp related, the powerful rewards are the only reason I go in to the content. They can incentivize me to go in but they can’t make me put in any more than minimal effort. Now I never go as far as to afk, but in gambit I just shoot hostiles, I ignore motes, invaders, and invading. In crucible I just shoot at any red names that pop up and try to capture zones. I don’t care about winning or losing and only put in effort if there’s some reason to. When I wanted malfeasance I put in 100% effort, when I did the Ace quest pre-nerf, thorn, and last word I did the same. Believe me, again, nothing would make me happier than to never set foot in any pvp content again. But until the powerful rewards are done in such a way that you can obtain ALL of them purely through PVE I will still be going in to the games doing the bare minimum.

    • If you don't want players doing that, tell Bungie to simply take Milestones off of Gambit then. People want to level up-- not play Gambit. There are too many avenues to level in D2. It makes leveling feel unrewarding and same-y throughout every Season. If you don't want farmers, make the actual engaging content more rewarding to play. Simple as that.

    • Report them and move on. They'll get their consequences if it's constant

    • Back when I was actively playing this thing really rubbed me the wrong way. Not just in Gambit, but in any match-made activity. While forges are doable by 2 players, I'm not Esoterickk to solo them, thus if second player is not doing anything - we're failing the forge. Strikes may be the only exception that are doable solo, but in Gambit (which is one of my favourite activities, so colour me biased), having a static player is worse than not having a full roster. Because if you shorthanded, you have a chance of newcomer. When you have full roster with 1 player standing on spawn doing nothing, emoting, walking in place and shooting into nowhere - it's much worse. Having player who occupies the spawn with "get off my lawn" attitude, killing invaders trying to kill him is slightly better, but still, not the best. I'm not confusing this with pre-Prime "sentinels" who stayed behind near bank and was shooting from there using long range weaponry - this is a totally different case. And thing I don't understand is when same player played previous match against you and was best in his team, yet this time he does nothing. Only to start playing next normally. I'd understood need for latrine, but why you emoting then? Wireless keyboard, trained pet to press the button? Why not to warn team you have a nature call and go AFK? So difficult to type "I'm on shitter/taking a leak, brb"? The only solution I see is to remove participation rewards whatsoever. Not just play match, but play it actively. In Gambit it's not necessarily to haul a whole lotta motes - there is not enough of them, but some activity counter/tracker would solve the problem. I understand there are bad players who may be afraid they won't earn enough activity statistics, but when it comes to Crucible - I'm one of them, my k/d 0.3, I doubt anyone is worse, I may well be the worst regular Crucible player ever. Yet I still manage to earn some "defeats", zones capture/defends, so even if I am worst among both teams, I still have some stat accumulated. And bungee are not that helpless to not being able to track real idlers from just us, bad players. :)

Gambit sucks so bad.. Bungie needs to stop forcing people to play it for certain bounties and consumables. It's pretty painful to play both gambit and prime. I cant believe after everyone said gambit was too long and tedious, bungie give us gambit prime, which is worse. More tedious and longer. Lol. Why.

      • Where’s the incentive to win? Like. At ALL? Last Season was all about Gambit. The only Gambit rewards to be obtained from Gambit are weekly/daily powerful and Hush. Neither of which require wins. After a sweaty season of Gambit, I for one am happy I no longer have to care about winning.

Simple solution to this is to not tie power rewards to single playlist activity just simply give players a set amount of powerful rewards per week that you get rewarded 1 each time you complete 5 playlist activities that way you can do 5 strikes get a powerful reward or 2 strikes, 2 gambit matches and 1 pvp match or just 5 pvp matches etc its up to the player how they play the game then.... rather than being told how they should play. Best solution for now tho is to leave the match.

          • I'm sorry but until Bungie overhaul their progression system and stop making people play content that they simply don't want to play in order to raise their power level then this is to expected

Honestly playing gambit is a penalty already and if I see 3 trash cans with bows I might as well quit cause we are going to lose

              • there should also be a penality for game devs who make trash game modes and then grind walls that force you to play some trash game mode you don't like just to play another game mode that is just meh. edit: it ruins the experince for gamers when devs make toxic game modes that they force us to play.

                  • Boo hoo. Sometimes people have a family or work emergency pop up during the middle of a gambit match. They do take around 15-20 min per match. I recently had a work issue that I had to deal with come up at the start of round 2. Sorry, but not sorry. It's a GAME, not a life or death situation. If you lose a match, you still get rewards. Besides, that's what I see people doing now - just working on their bounties or waiting for the match to end so they can collect the daily or weekly powerful rewards. People I've played with recently just don't seem to be playing the objective. They invade constantly, not doing anything else (bounty), or kill lots of ads and do not pick up any motes (bounty), run around scarfing up motes not letting anyone else get them (bounty), or sit around doing emotes (waiting for powerful rewards). My strategy (since I really don't like Gambit) is to not pick up any bounties. I'm not interested in Hush. I don't care about my seasonal rank. I got my 21% Delirium last season and Breakneck the season before that. I just play how it should be played - kill ads, deposit motes, invade when it matters (lots of un-deposited motes or when you need to reverse primeval damage), and use weapons and supers that are efficient at dropping the enemies. That is not how most people are playing and it shows. If you really want a match with little to no chance of folks dropping, make a fireteam of 4 and go in as a communicating stack. You'll have a better chance of winning that way too (even though it doesn't matter).

                  • Totally agree. No one is forced to do anything in this game. But for some reason everyone cries when they play gambit or crucible. "I want the reward but dont want to have to do anything to get it, so I'll ruin the experience of others and then try and defend my actions" Powerful rewards should be tied to in game actions and not matches played. You want those gambit rewards. Kill enemies, guardians, bank motes, defeat blockers. However, that is not the fault of the guardians, bungie need to evolve their reward system, stop allowing people to jump in and do nothing for 3, 4 or 5 games and still get rewarded.

                        • People should just learn how to play. You can actually still play, and win, with bows. But who am I kidding. Bungie makes these quests with no regard to 3 other people on the team. And if you’re just playing for the reward, just friggin kill stuff! I play crucible for the reward but at least I try and kill something.

                          • Once had a Gambit match where one guy on my team had like 85 motes deposited, I had 45, and the two other blueberries had 0 deposited. It wasn’t even like they were in a fireteam intentionally sabotaging, it was two random blueberries who both happened to be absolute ass.

                          • The thing is, that's matchmade activities for you. People have the option to find a team, yet we dont, so we cant really expect Bungie to "solo proof" the game.
