Whisper of the Worm: A different look

skip to the dashes if you just want to read the Whisper rework Hello everyone, After watching a video from one of my favorite destiny YouTube channels about the upcoming nerfs and adjustments coming up soon I couldn't help but think about some of the weapons that are up for changes and I settled on tackling Whisper of the Worm. Just for a little background I logged over 1900 hours on destiny making it my most played game overall, and like many fans that followed the franchise I found myself disinterested with destiny 2 but wanting to love the game. After hearing that the Whisper was receiving the same nerf that black spindle did and black hammer before that, I couldn't help but think there had to be a better way. The most enticing perk about the weapons in question were their infinite ammo potential, however this complicated the ammo economy in both games making it extremely powerful. I foresee that the same abandonment of the weapon will occur in Destiny 2 as it had in Destiny as other weapons will have more fun/useful perks. After thinking it over for a while I came the following idea: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whisper of the Worm Removed: WhiteNail - intrinsic: Higher base precision damage. Rapidly landing three precision shots will refill the magazine. added: Fading Sound - intrinsic: Higher base precision damage. Hitting three critical shots in a row will regenerate ammo spent and apply a stack of Fading Sound. Fading Sound will also be applied if five critical shots are hit within 5 seconds of each other. Fading Sound - Stacks of fading sound reduce Whisper of the Worm critical damage by 8% and can stack up to 40% (8%>16%>24%>32%>40%). Stacks reset after 12 seconds or on no heavy ammo. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note that fading sound is not only applied from consecutive shots but is also applied on a timer. Thus if someone is using titan rally barricade or lunafaction boots shooting a string of five Precision shots, this will stack Fading Sound if that string takes place within 5 seconds. Also this can double stack during longer active times. Thus a normal stacking example with all precision hits will apply stacks as such: Shot | Stack | Time (Seconds) 3 x1 2.5 5 x2 4.16 6 x3 5 9 x4 7.5 10 x5 8.3 Let me know what you guys think of this idea and up-vote this if you think its a good idea. Just one of many possible solutions to a problem that has happened in both destiny games now. Thanks for reading and have a great day. -Jeff
