Why bubble needs a buff.

Inside this spoiler is why I think it needs a buff to better support how Destiny plays. If you don't care why because you know why, I've provided my ideas as to what they could do for bubble below.
Bubble being a secondary super that top tree sentinel can use will always be welcome, but one of its biggest flaws isn't necessarily that the super itself doesn't do much, but rather there is almost no real content to support the use of it. In a lot of our activities we play, the faster we kill the better and if we decide to take too long, reward potential drops or you lose at the activity. Dying isn't always an issue in pve due to being allowed to respawn or because somebody else you just pick you up. It's not a good thing to die regardless, but it's never so punishing that defense would matter more than all else, unlike in d1 where dying was far more devasting and we had WAY less tools for survivability, such as a variety of mobile supers and health regen exotics/perks, not to mention less general support. Even in a mode where I could see it being more useful in, such as reckoning, the limitations of the super turtle style prevents consistent usability. With well granting just so much healing, getting damaged almost literally doesn't even matter, so why even use something that makes you unkillable but also restricts your range of dps? With most things, an easy fix would be to just let players shoot through the bubble itself, but I feel like we could do so much more to keep it interesting while also keeping more balanced for PvP (also so nothing gets nerfed). To be clear, it's not necessarily wells fault that bubble isn't used, it's that the two used together is almost literally completely unnecessary. Bubble grants defense, but it's so unnecessary because well over heals you the whole time. And a standalone bubble doesn't grant the same safety a well can because you leave yourself stuck inside of a bubble that grants no benefits on the outside, meaning that whatever you popped your super for, it can still end up being pointless because you can't fight back in any shape or form without risk of dying. So once bubble is gone, you can end up getting your team wiped because even you as the titan barely knows when it's going away. And one of bubbles biggest flaws, is that in order for it become somewhat useful, you have to wear an exotic just to be able to do what bubble used to do, sonewhat. The blinding from saint 14s helm is ok on its own, but requiring you to wear it for blessings of light is honestly kind of stupid, considering armor isn't exactly useful for a good majority of real situations where it would be needed. Even in PvP, armor gets negated by other supers quite easily and in pve some knock back means you are dead.
So I have some buff ideas for bubble that I think would help improve it without replacing well or without making bubble too strong. 1st, add blessings of light AND weapons of light back to bubble, but remove armor of light from the bubble. With weapons of light, to keep it balanced by letting it be granted together with blessings, make it require kills while being shielded by blessings of light to start stacking damage, in which case each kill continuously increases the buff weapons of light can grant up to 30%. Think of how Phoenix protocol works with how kills and assists grant the user super energy, only this time being buffed by bubble grants increased damage per kill. This also balances it out in PvP quite nicely. Each stack grants 5%, so 6 ad kills to get the full buff, or you can stop inbetween. The buff lasts 10 seconds and refreshes on entering the bubble. 2nd, for helm of saint 14, add armor of light as it's replacement for blessings. It works well with the blinding anyways and would somewhat balance out having all 3 main bubble buffs active by requiring an exotic. 3rd, have a timer for bubble. Unlike well, you have almost literally no idea how long it lasts, and the audio cue for when it's dispersing only starts happening at the last 2 or so seconds, which is sometimes inaudible. A timer will allow the user and allies to escape from the bubble without having to wait for a cue. 4th, allow bubble to grant increased melee recharge for all kills granted with blessings of light active. Each kill while shielded grants a stack of increased melee cool down. So 1 kill reduces cool down by 14%, 2 kills 28%, etc and caps at 6 stacks with an 84% reduced melee cooldown. 5th, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say the titan dying instantly removing the bubble is kind of stupid. I can understand it from a balancing standpoint, but it makes dying a bit too punishing. For the sake of bubble, let's say it currently has a 20 second duration. Upon death, reduce it to 3 seconds to give the players inside some room to move afterwards, just in case. If bubble only has 3 or less seconds of duration left, do not grant back to 3 seconds. Finally, I think bubbles ability to generate a bit more orbs on being damaged would be great. Make it only drop small orbs, like the masterwork orbs in PvP, but allow some medium sized ones in pve. Allow up to 2 additional orbs for taking good damage. With these changes, bubble becomes more flexible for Destinys content while granting benefits like it used to. With the idea of some balance in mind, it creates a more unique playstyle of playing with the bubble, rather than just using it to dip in and out for maximum benefits. This will create a greater benefit that bubble can grant, but restricts it to being a bit more aggressive while it's active. It can still be used to turtle up, it just grants better benefits while moving in and out and fighting, which is where the focus should have been in the first place. What this entails for middle tree sentinel is something I'll discuss later. Give me some time to think about it.

  • I think that the bubble should only take damage from nova bomb becasue it was pretty much the only counter to it in destiny 1 It 100% needs a timer, well of radiance has a timer It 100% should stay after death, becasue if a shadowshot can stay after death why not a bubble? In my opinion the default perk should be blessing of light instead of armor of light, it should full heal the user and start overshield generation to teammates. However they should bring back the glasshouse from destiny 1 and make it give you weapons of light on exchange for losing blessing of light And the helm of saint 14 should increase the class barricade damage and give the blinding effect to people who walk through the barricade The 2 exotics would really balance playing offence or defence with the bubble Also give us spike gernade instead of the trash voidwall

  • The bubble caster should have twice as much damage resistance from within the bubble. You and allies should have a dramatic recharge to all ability energy. Damaging the bubble would grant orbs of light.

I feel that weapons of light won't come back due to the risk of having too many damage buffing abilities allowing players to melt everything too easily look at riven for example you only need a well and a debuff in most groups to skip riven's mechanics it made one of the more difficult parts of the raid at launch an absolute joke

    • Im sorry but no x1000 to bringing back weapons of light. I'm sorry this suggestion is just flat out bad and boring. That would completely bury code of the commander and ite already trash as is. The rest is solid. A good example of a unique buff would be to have it draw 100% aggro combined with your orb suggestion, but ramp up orb generation. Or like someone said have people inside the bubble get like double or maybe even triple ability regeneration.
