I would say more broadly that Bungie should largely ignore this forum. They certainly should not be looking here for ways to improve the game. Generally, the people who post here have a short term memory and more specifically do not actually know what they want at all. The core Destiny experience is fun. The gunplay is superb, the music and setting are excellent. The lore can be great and it is not a big deal that its hard to find at times. The grind is as tedious as one makes it. Most Destiny players do not visit this forum and simply play the game modes they like with or without other people. I have been pleased with nearly every iteration of this game and the previous game. That is simply due to the fact that I do not overthink the minute details. On average, I'd say a lot of the grief on this forum is from jaded players who just want the attention and to stir up controversy. As to the topic at hand: I could care less if cores are used for infusion or not. I am currently limited by planetary materials more often and simply do not upgrade things I can not afford. I have a good PVP loadout for one of my toons and a decent Gambit Prime one as well. I play the PVE elements as desired and have a great time. The rest of you....my advice is to learn some patience and discernment. Not everything is an "outrage" and no one cares if you do not play anymore. Carry on. Edit: In summary, success is NOT building a game that everyone plays every day. That is unrealistic. Success is building a game WORLD that people come back to when new content is added. Bungie will continue to succeed.

  • I too am limited by planetary mats versus cores. Cores are easy, 25 of each mat takes me 20 mins to gather due to commute time lol.
When cores are gone people will complain about planetary matts
•
I am currently limited by planetary materials more often and simply do not upgrade things I can not afford.
This guy gets it. I have over 160 spare cores and my last infusion attempt was for my Wardcliffe Coil. I chose that because I've just got the catalyst which requires me to get a couple hundred kills with it so I'll be using it a lot. But... out of Data Lettuce and Spider didn't have any. Lo and behold... Flashpoint this week is Nessus. Combine activities = profit.

  • I am wondering... how many characters? How many subclasses? I was wondering if the cores controversy breaks along these lines... I play a bit. I have a hunter, warlock, and titan (all around 665) Each character runs each subclass. That's 9 loadouts! Nothing is masterworked. Infusion is a God damn full blown moral dilemna! Every drop is an auto dismantle and today I got a masterweave and three cores dismantling. .. That has never happened to me before in a week let alone one day!

I have 3 characters, but with 2 of them I've never played any of the Forsaken campaign. Only 1 of those has completed CoO and Warmind. I main a Titan with which I try to complete everything in a week (except raids - my clan left the game a year ago) and if I get time before reset I play Gambit and Crucible with the Warlock and Hunter. I pass on unwanted high level weapons from the Titan to the other two, boosting their power level, which then influences the drops of gear from their activities. For some strange reason last week ended with my Hunter ahead of my Titan on power level! No infusion involved there, btw. This week will be Titan only, because of Iron Banner. In Destiny 1 I ground out everything every week on all 3 characters. Promised myself I wouldn't do that again, lol!

  • The irony is that if Bungie does remove cores from infusion then people can get right back to farming for planetary materials. Doing activities that largely DO NOT require high power levels, haha.

  • Your first 3 paragraphs created a straw man. The only paragraph that tried to comment on the infusion dilemma also did not satisfy OP's original request, which was to provide reasons for why enhancement cores should be kept as part of infusion. Your lack of reasons to care does not create a very good argument.

  • Ya and there I've haven't seen a good reason to remove them.mostly whining. I'm not convinced it's an issue. The only thing I think needs to happen is improved more sources to obtain them.

Here’s the one reason. Read this fellow Guardian’s post. If you still think cores should stay for infusion afterwards then I’m afraid you’re being extremely shortsighted. How do you ever expect to retain new players with this system in place? They will eventually give up and play games that reward their time spent in the game more generously. If Destiny cannot retain new players and some veterans like me that have stopped playing due to the boring grind upon grind upon drudgery upon unfair RNG, then the and the game/franchise is ultimately doomed. Even Cozmo directly responded to this post. So even the community managers appear to see his point. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/251441917/0/0

  • The main reason to remove them has been addressed multiple times, they serve no purpose other than to limit player choice. This has been highlighted multiple times without a single whine.

  • No - all other materials are free to farm. You can no-life any planet and continue to stock as many mats as you wish. Cores are specifically limited, and if only offered via bounties, will continue to be...

  • The problem with that though, is that the core of Destiny has always been solid and very good. But, we can't rely upon the core of the experience when we reach into complications, like the Infusion and the endgame. They are what is complicated, because the core of the game takes a step back and it takes its opportunity to show off what the game is really capable of providing to the player in terms of player freedom and variety. I dont hate the system, but I hate how it screws over new players and how absolutely pointless this addition was. No-one complained about Legendary Mark's being used for infusion in D1, and people were happy to see it being carried over to Y1 of D2. It is also pretty insulting to lots of people who do try to contribute to the conversation to just assume that they are closing their ears and hating for no reason. Some of us try to provide genuine feedback without the use of attacking Bungie.

  • I hear that. I would respond that new players have no business infusing anything. They should explore the game, take their time to decide if they like it, and level up with whatever they get. By the time they reach the soft cap they should have plenty of stuff to start a gear set.
