Alright....bows let's talk about em.

Ok so before I start let me say this is just my opinion but I'm curious if others feel the same way. Bows are muff garbage in pvp and are only viable in extremely long ranges. My reason being comes down to the raw ttk of the weapons and how they are designed. Bows are a weapon meant to be used predictably much like the sweet business auto or a fusion rifle. Meaning that these weapons are best used when predicting when and where your enemy will be. Knowing when to peak from a corner and when not too decides if these weapons will be great or terrible. The problem is bows are so strict in terms of prediction based playstyles that the smallest imperfection will be your downfall. Now I already know what your going to say, if you pre draw the bow before starting an engagement your ttk is cut effectively in half. While this may be true there are several factors that make this strategy unreliable. 1. You cannot hold your arrow for longer than 7 seconds ish unless your a hunter with the exotic gauntlets. 2. You will not always have the opportunity to pre draw before an engagement. 3. Your ttk even with a perfectly set up pre draw and hitting your crits is still only around what you would get with a bygone pulse or a 180 hand cannon. For the rest of this post I will use the term OPTIMAL TTK in saying that your getting your pre draw down and hitting your headshots, and I will say NORMAL TTK as in your not drawing back the bow until you see an enemy and your hitting only body shots. Let's take a look at arguable the worst bow...the wish ender with the longest draw time. While the damage of the weapon may seem impressive on paper, in the crucible it takes 2 shots to kill anywhere on the body. Its Optimal ttk would probably be around 1.2 seconds and it's normal ttk would be around 2.4seconds. 2.4 seconds is horrible for any weapon in the crucible. Ok now let's look at the more popular bow the subtle calamity with a faster draw time. The subtle calamity is still 2 arrows to kill anywhere to the body. Its optimal ttk is probably around .9 seconds which isn't bad but it's normal ttk is still well over a second with around a 1.8 second ttk. Remember that most weapons in the crucible kill in just under a second with the new ttk. Ok well let's take a look at the fastest bow the arsenic bite. Now I actually have a god roll arsenic bite with a masterwork in draw time which brings it down to 620. The arsenic is a 2 hit kill if you hit at least 1 critical arrow and a 3....yes 3 hit kill with only body shots. If you miss even one critical your ttk is drastically increased making the only semi decent bow a high risk weapon to use. The optimal ttk with my god roll arsenic is probably around .7 seconds...not bad but if you remember this requires you to 1. Pre draw before the engagement and 2. Atleast hit 1 crit. The normal ttk is horrible on this weapon probably around 2.1 seconds. Whew! that was a lot of information. No I didn't test these values with a stopwatch program these are rough estimates by my personal experience using these bows. Again this is just my opinion and my feeling on the matter that bows need a substantial buff. What form that buff takes is up for debate. Start a conversation am I out of my mind? Or do you feel the same way? Thank you
