I claimed Destiny 2 during the promotion and I love the game. For my system however it unplayable.
I will be playing fine for like a minute or two (by fine I mean 140+ fps) when suddenly it drops below
30-20 fps. I'm playing on an ASUS ROG Hero II
My Specs:
-i7-8750H @ 2.20GHz
-16GB Ram
-GTX 1060 6GB
Game is installed on a 5400rpm HDD
What I've tried so far:
-Lowering in game graphing to lowest settings
-Reducing the FOV
-Rolling back to a previous Nvidia driver
-Changing nvidia display settings
-Changing the "Full screen optimisations" in both the destiny2.exe and destiny2launcher.exe
-Restarting the game
-Reinstalling the game
I played a public event for 3 minutes on Nessus while running HWinfo, here are the graphs for the CPU and GPU load(%) and temps(C)
GPU Load: https://imgur.com/a/ZMP6MVH
GPU Temps: https://imgur.com/a/HP3uZIt
CPU Load: https://imgur.com/a/nVJZbhI

I used a timer to note down the times at which the spikes occurred, they pretty much line up
with the spikes in the GPU load graph which had me thinking that the GPU might bottleneck. Then again destiny is not using all 6GB of VRAM as the setting in-game suggest.
Some of the spike timestamps:
01:11, 01:17, 01:22, 01:28, 01:47, 01:56, 02:03.....
As you can see it is really frequent and that's why it is making this so unplayable.
Any tips are SO welcome...
Thanks in advance for your time.
EDIT:
I manged to fix everything. The framerate I was getting was the result of the GPU bottlenecking.
Solution for that is to increase the fan curve of your fans and/or undervolt the GPU.
