Cost of Making a New Character?

I’ve been contemplating on replacing my male titan with a female titan for the reason of the exaggerated bulkiness of the male’s armor as compared to the first game’s. My titan is my most used character out of the three so I’ve done quite a bit on him. My main concern is that I’m going to lose progress that I’m not going to be able to get back unless I do the activity again e.g. whisper heroic, prestige raids, ace in a hole, seed of lights, etc. If someone doesn’t mind answering the implications of replacing a character, it would be much appreciated.

  • Not 100% sure but you might lose all your Triumphs earned on your titan. Not sure if it can all be gained back.

    • As someone who used to re-roll characters all the time: You'll lose any unfinished quest progress, all sub-class progress, and all equipment you don't remember to put in the Vault first - basically, apart from stored gear, it'll be the equivalent of never having had a Titan and rolling a new character from scratch. Bonuses: You'll get to replay the campaign (if you didn't know this, they update some of the dialogue every release, so it's worth listening to Ghost and watching the cutscenes if you're into that sort of thing), you can re-earn some of the Exotics or pick a different free piece of armor if you haven't gotten it yet, some existing gear can be equipped early enough to use during parts of the Campaign (depending on LL - I think you can dip into Collections as well if you really want certain Exotics early and have the necessary Shards), and once you hit 50 you can pull all your Vaulted gear and skip the grind to increase LL. Basically, getting from 1-50 will be the same as the first time, and 50+ will let you jump right back in, but you'll have to re-meet any prerequisites for activity access and restart any Quest lines.

      • You do lose your progress but you can use the light buff to automatically increase your level

      • Any quest on that titan that is not complete will be gone but any achievements you unlocked will stay. So finish quests first or just do them on a different character. Pick up some blue armor and weapons and transfer all your gear to the vault so you don’t lose it. Then when you are level 50 again you can use the gear you have right now.
