Hive Morphs

<It's no secret that the Hive are the most -blam!-ed up things in the Destiny universe so far. These insect-crustaceans are the bane of many a Guardians' existences... including mine. Seriously I hate these guys, yet I'm fascinated at how they work. Anyway, I'm here to delve in just a bit deeper about how the Hive grow from one form to another and how their bodies adapt to the change. From Oryx's brood to Savathun's. Let's get into this. It is unknown what newborn Hive look like, but we can assume they look similar to the adolescent Thrall. https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/007/433/291/large/alexis-velazquez-d2-hive-thrall-model-highpoly.jpg?1506095434 https://i.imgur.com/SnJPF6I.jpg Thrall are rather bony and thin. Both Oryx's brood and Savathun's brood have the same pattern when it comes to them. Their limbs are completely covered in chitin. Most of their head is also covered in chitin, but their torso is kind of left open. The fleshy bits of the Thrall show off mostly in the front, but it can sometimes wrap around the back. The dome of a Thrall's head is a different color than the rest but is still hardened. https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/007/433/422/large/alexis-velazquez-d2-hive-acolyte-model-highpoly.jpg?1506096235 https://i.imgur.com/WeqcZnq.jpg Adult male Hive are an interesting case because it differs by the brood. In D1, they look VERY similar to the Thrall with the exception that their head is all grey and they have eyes. Also they don't have holes in their bodies. In D2, they have a clear muscle structure. Their bodies also literally grow their armor. Want proof?
the Knight is the Hive's foremost and most zealous defender. Centuries of battle have toughened the bony protrusions on its body into an armor as hard as relic iron
I realize this is for the Knight but it can go for any other Hive above a Thrall. Plus, look at the second picture I linked for the Acolyte. Notice the shoulders look a little lighter? A little shinier? There are two kinds of adult body types we've seen so far. https://i.imgur.com/75urgcW.jpg This is the swole type. The one Alak-Hul and the Warpriest have. This body type is nearly identical to the normal Knight, with the exception of the abs. https://i.imgur.com/F36QGeE.jpg Oryx's Knights and Acolytes are both covered in hardened skin underneath a shit ton of armor with an exposed torso. For Savathun's Hive, the Knights and Acolytes do not seem to have any actual armor on their heads, but their bones do shape the look of their face. https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/007/433/394/large/alexis-velazquez-d2-hive-knight-model-highpoly.jpg?1506095856 https://i.imgur.com/Yvk4mhy.jpg Also, Knights in Savathun's shadow have more armor. With extra side plates and a thicker helmet that covers more of their face. Also, these Knights have invested in ass plating. Acolytes, too. This shows that THESE Hive have asses. What do we do with this knowledge? No -blam!-ing idea. Before we move on, there's a way to explain the differences between Savathun and Oryx's Hive. It all comes down to Nokris. https://i.imgur.com/WGEIO5M.jpg After snooping around for ages I found this picture of Nokris's model. Notice how his arms are fleshy brown at first, but then turn into the gray we all know from D1. With this, it all comes down to interpretation. Either Oryx's Hive are way older than Savathun's, or the broods just take different approaches, maybe some stay younger with SPACE MAGIC. Perhaps it's just a simple graphics update. I can't really see Oryx's body underneath the armor, but so far it's looking more in line with Savathun's Hive rather than his own. I guess he really does perfectly encapsulate the Hive. Moving on to Ogres. https://i.imgur.com/wQHZ4fp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4YSdjbM.jpg After taking an Ogre in D1, I noticed that it's body is stupidly similar to that of any other Hive in D1. The same gray armor and brown flesh. The same spikes growing out of the spine. The only differences being the disproportional body frame and the mutated head. https://i.imgur.com/uShLaU5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Q2JVA6w.jpg Savathun's Ogres are very similar, I mean, it is the same model. However, the brown and gray differences are a little blurred. I want to say they are the same but something's stopping me. Also I watched an Ogre's idle animations for a bit... I almost feel bad for them. https://i.imgur.com/uHGLY0o.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FK8CFGY.jpg Wizards are actual cunts. I spent 30 minutes trying to get good pictures, and I think I got it. Oryx's Wizards are, like every other Hive in D1, really similar to the common Thrall, but with more armor and less holes in their torso. Wizards don't show their eyes, haven't seen a single one in D1 that does. Perhaps Omnigul's model count as eyes, but with Nokris's glowing runes and the Thrall not having eyes outside of Crota's End and the Sunless Cell, maybe they don't NEED them. Savathun's Wizards are more in line with the Knights and Acolytes, having a fleshy body. Unlike the other two, however, the Wizards have their lower arms covered in armor... completely. I don't mean pieces of armor, I mean fully covered from finger to bicep. D2 Wizards also seem to be more flexible, able to bend their shoulders unnaturally. https://i.imgur.com/AJPITDT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eQaK9Bx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UU5uo37.jpg Also, in that last pic, you'll probably notice that the lower jaw of the Wizard may differ from an Acolyte or Knight. Their teeth jut out more. In one of the cut screenshots I took, their mouth had opened to an unnatural angle, only rivaled by the Taken Knight from the first Taken King ViDoc and me when I see an unfunny joke only to spit it out onto text or paper later down the road. In another screenshot that I may have deleted in last month's purge, a close look at the D2 Wizard's head revealed that it DOES have a middle "eye". However this eye is about as dead as a Psion's... just grey. Perhaps soon a D2 Wizard's body will glitch out and not disintegrate so I can take a closer look. There is another form of Wizard, similar to how there is a "swole" Knight type. https://i.imgur.com/wnRn8a5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ioDW1xZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/C82xUCf.jpg This is what I refer to as the "Omnigul Model". This model is different by its armor... which has breasts. It is the only known Wizard variant to have breasts. Despite how intrigued I am about these breasts, they don't really have a purpose for being there as far as I know. There are other body types that we could come in contact with down the road. Besides any new soldiers, there's Xivu Arath (a female Knight) and Savathun if she wants to be different from the other Wizards. Imgur Album:https://imgur.com/a/DN6ao8z >
