Who else is up for considering them non-canon community wide?
-
Since they contradict everything, they are a bungie fanfic
-
Even though they are "Canon" the Comic literally contradicts what is stated in game. In a lore tab for The Curse of Foresight Sparrow it shows the transcript of the Consensus meeting where Osiris gets banished. Consensus Meeting 2891.98 NM: "I note for the record that we are without a Warlock Vanguard or a Vanguard Commander." Andal Brask: "Two birds, one man." Zavala: "Ikora Rey is interim Warlock Vanguard for this meeting." Speaker: "Which brings us to our first order of business. Ikora Rey, the Consensus formally requests you assume the responsibilities of Warlock Vanguard." Ikora Rey: "Considering I've been performing those responsibilities for a while now, I accept." FWC: "Why did you cover for him for so long?" IR: "Someone had to do it." S: "Ahem. Now that we have Consensus, I may inform you I have decided to banish former Warlock Vanguard Osiris from the Last City." [murmurs] S: "Are there any objections?" DO: "None here. Maybe he'll find a better planet for us." [pause] S: "Very well. Next: I name Titan Vanguard Zavala as the new Vanguard Commander. Congratulations." This is completely different from the events of the comic, the only similarity is the fact that it happened in a consensus meeting. And this is a Lore tab, not a grimoire card, so this cant be folklore Joker talked about how it'd make more sense if the Comics were an over embellished version of the true events. and in a sense i would have to agree with that. If they want to make the comic canon then the only way i would personally accept that is if the comic is FOLKLORE. Thats the only way it could make sense. If the events that happen in the comic is what is told throughout the city about what happened.

They are canon tho. They show what all happened with Osiris before we came along.
-
I do. Considering that Christine Thompson is blocking everyone who calls her out on her sh*t. Get a better writer, Bungo.
-
I'm know lore buff, but wasn't lore pretty much thrown out the window when dawn blade, and arc strider were created. Pretty sure Osiris was a sunsinger, then all of sudden dawn blade. By the way bring back sunsinger I miss radiance,it would be awesome in pve,and pretty much wouldn't effect pvp anymore with team shooting and nerfed grenades. I don't even main warlock.
-
The comics are folklore. Folklore for a 4-year old child.
-
Here. Conflicting with existing lore without confirmation that the comics are the actual lore doesn’t work.
-
Quite honestly, I don’t even see D2 as Cannon. But that’s more personal opinion.
-
I have to agree with some of the critics about the comic, it feels like a poorly written fan fiction written by someone who has only ever played the game without delving into the lore. I've already decided that the comic is non-cannon, that was set when the whole "folk your lore" topic arose and I realized that the person writing the comics doesn't know jack about nor could care less about the lore. You can always tell the difference between an author, and some hack who writes fan fiction. An author can write a story that develops within a world, while someone who writes fan fiction tends to redevelop the world around their story and this is what we're seeing with the comics and the tweets by the writers/artists of the comics. What we have with the comics is fan fiction and fan fiction, by default, is non-cannon.
-
I said this in a tweet. The biggest slap to the face of the narrative lead, is to simply ignore the comics. I'd rather watermelon exo be Canon instead of this.
-
I think the mistake the community has made is that they think Bungie ever cared about the lore.
they fired the guy who created the whole damn thing because they thought it was to confusing....

they’d rather the lore be at a “curious George” reading level. Not “Game of Thrones”
<I could consider FoO 1 canon, but after that point we start getting... what's the word? Conflicted. I consider FoO 2 non-canon.>

Editado por TeWrecks: 2/25/2018 1:11:27 PMalso the campaign story dosn't make any sense. Like, how did Ghaul extract the light from the Traveler? I thought a ghost is needed for that. If Ghaul became a guardian by extracting the light from the Traveler why don't we do the same and make an army. What was the operation on the Jovian moon that the consul was talking about? What did Ghaul turn into when we killed him. Probably light but they don't explain why & how. The story dosn't make any sense.

The comics were made so family members/friends could have a job.... nothing else...
-
Me. Hands down. I even made a post detailing my personal belief that they take place in an alternate timeline. But i'm too lazy to link it here.....
-
The quality of the comics is so bad. The grimoire was superior. THats just the direction this game is headed. The writer of the “books of Sorrow”is like an award winning fiction writer while Margaret Stohl or whatever her name is was basically fired from her last job because her comics sucked.

Editado por doobiecloud: 2/25/2018 3:31:25 AMAm I the only one who would rather they dedicated whatever funds and resources they used for the comics and used them instead to add depth to the campaign and a sense of continuity with the grimiore via in game story telling in the Osiris dlc? Ive seen lots of complaints about length of campaign, so why would they not use those particular resources to flesh out their first dlc? Someone in charge seriously failed to think of this possibility
-
Absolutely, the comics are incredibly poor writing add to that they don’t match the lore tabs released in curse of Osiris let alone the far superior lore from the original game.
-
Why are they even doing a Comic?? Why aren't they putting this story IN the game? Maybe getting the voice acting done would be easier if they weren't hiring Film actors (like Bill Nighy) and people who are professional voice actors. Seriously, just look at Bethesda, Bioware, and Blizzard games for how to have lore in the game. Bungie, stop relying on Third Party sources to provide the lore to understand what is going on. I expect that from F2P games.
-
Considering how big of shitheads the comic writers seem to be, I haven’t even peeked at them. Some people can get away with being assholes and getting cred for their writing, I don’t see anyone associated with D2 belonging to that category.
-
yeah the stories from d1 where so great while we can't dispute the expansion is canon its much better to forget the comics existed
-
Why the comic stories were not cutsceens in adventures in the dlc is beyond me. We visit the past... Hello

Editado por BC1 Edge: 2/26/2018 3:28:44 PMI deleted my original post because of terrible grandma, oops I mean grammar.

They are EMPHATICALLY non-canonical.
-
Consider them considered! Utter pap!

Editado por Calliibrations: 2/25/2018 9:59:59 PMThe comics are just total rubbish that craps all over existing lore, if they want these comics to work do the research.. Also this extra story could've been in the game, maybe a cutscene or a series of lore entries on Mercury
