So I just got back from playing D1....

...and man, was it nostalgic! I looked at all the weapons that I had in my vault before those nasty Cabal attacked. Looked through my inventory and saw all the consumables you could add to your guardian's appearance, increase glimmer intake, and even get gear from. However, what brings me here is a heartbreak that I have received from Destiny 2. I feel like Bungie was so focused on creating something new that it forgot that by the end of Destiny 1, they had a good set up for a sequel and that keeping many things the same would be awesome! I do understand that getting all that content took three years, but creating that content must have given Bungie a bunch of XP. It was beautiful watching Destiny 1 grow from vanilla to what it was before D2. At the end of D1, Bungie had a lot right. Gear came from everywhere! Gear was specific to the certain activity (such as ghost or strike specific armor and/or weapons). The ornaments were flipping awesome! They really did modify the gear and didn't just switch a color or put an extra part on the piece of gear. It made the character look epic! Especially the Crota's End gear, but that's just my opinion! Also, the vendor gear switched out with a DLC! New weapons, new armor from old vendors, new activities (Raids and PoE). The rolls on the weapon/armor were useful. Armor could generate orbs, help with reload speed, heal on picking up orbs, etc. That whole aspect is missing! The only thing that the gear in D2 has is basically your Intellect/Discipline/Strength and no other perks. It makes the gear feel so plain. Variety is another aspect missing. D1 had so many modifiers! When I got my Wings of Sacred Dawn with the perk to stay in air while aiming down, I was so excited because I thought the Airborne modifier would be a thing. The new modifiers, specially Timewarp just don't seem fun. They seem...stressful. I don't want to be timed while playing. Old modifiers such as Daybreak, any burn, even trickle were better than Timewarp. The old modifiers were just fine. The whole new Primary/Energy/Power Weapon system feels weird. I understand that a sniper can be used to kill something or cause high amounts of damage, but it does not feel like that. It's not up there with what a rocket can do. I'm okay where shotguns are since they aren't overused in PvP anymore and they do deal high damage up close. Sniper v. rocket launcher, why would you even use a sniper in that case? Also, where are LMGs? Why are factions only available at some times? They have awesome gear that many of us want. Sometimes trying to get some gear from these time locked events (the ones that are a week or less) is damn near impossible. I'm currently in medical school and I'd be lucky if I get a weekend to even do something. If I do want to get some of the gear, I have to choose between school or playing the time gated events. Either, they have to remove the time lock on these activities or makes them available way more often! DLC should feel like DLC. Curse of Osiris was truly underwhelming. The campaign was short and the strikes are just repackaged stories. I usually try to get my friends to come back to play D2 since many of them left due to lack of activities or items to grind for, but it's hard when some activities are just different coats of paint of the same thing. Mercury is so small as an exploratory planet. To go further in the map you have to do a story or else you're stuck to a very limited area. There are so many other things that could be done, but I'm sure that many YouTubers or bloggers have mentioned. I just wanted to say my opinion after feeling the difference between D1 and D2. I loved playing Destiny because I got to play it with friends and earned loot at the same time. There has been very little of both nowadays. Thank you, StingyGonzalez
