I am the only one who is failing with every machine gun against other weapons in the beta? With every other weapon I can get kills but the to high recoil and the to low body damage from SMG's ruins them for PvP.
In my opinion Bungie have 2 options:
- increase the basic damage
- reduce more the recoil
Ok, maybe some versions of SMG's are better in the final game because we have a mod system but the current D2 beta SMG'S are a big joke!

Two things. #1 - You have to be up CLOSE for smgs to work, the damage fall off is incredibly sharp and brutal. They melt when used in the correct range. #2 - The guy that says he gets melted at range probably gets shot with no shield. In this game having a sheild or not makes a huge difference to how fast you "die". We are much weaker once the shield goes down than we were in destiny 1. At least thats how it feels to me.

They certainly are much better than sidearms and at close range they pretty much beat out any weapon with very little effort apart from power weapons of course. The gap does have to be close but I'm glad that every weapon doesn't have insane range like it did in D1. Again though it hurts the PvE side of things while trying to maintain PvP balance which is a topic flooding the forums....

I didn't really crunch the numbers with the stats, so I'm not going to say if they're underpowered or not, but they certainly felt underwhelming every time I used one.
