  • The opportunity will come in due time. For now, would you like to share your two cents on the subject at hand?

  • Sure. It's certainly an interesting subject. I personally wouldn't discount it. The world is such an ancient and complex place, no one can ever hope to know or comprehend its plethora of secrets. As far as why the practice continues, I think there's two basic reasons. Some people are curious, and some people want to gain something out of it. What this gain might be, I don't know. Knowledge, power, or something else, perhaps? I haven't taken much of a personal interest in this topic. It's certainly intriguing, and I'd be quite curious to see if there's any credibility within the legends of old. However, those who take an interest in the topic or practice/attempt to practice necromancy are generally frowned upon these days. Without the support of the public, I don't expect to see much of an advancement within the field. Even with the people's support, we would be hard-pressed to find any new information that could prove/disprove necromancy. I hope this reply provided a little bit of insight. :)

  • I like your reflections on the subject, and I agree with most of them, though I think there's much more to the continuance of the practice than simple curiosity or personal gain. Those may very well be superficial reasons, but I suspect the true reasoning runs much deeper than that, and is a further manifestation of mankind's ancient and complex relationship or "dance" with death, as an organic and entirely mortal species. And truth be told, I don't think that dance will come to a close until the last living human being has passed on, simply because at that point there would be no survivors for the fascination to survive through. At least, no human survivors anyway. All in all, you did provide a fair amount of insight into your opinions on the matter, and I appreciate that you took the time to do that. I suppose if I had anything left to ask, it would be whether or not you have any intentions of looking further into the subject on your own? Perhaps not for the sake of practicing, but for the sake of reflection and understanding, both about this particular topic, but also about the nature of the psychological and potentially metaphysical ties between the living and the dead.

  • Your point about the "dance with death" is very interesting, and I certainly overlooked including something along those lines in my reply. I definitely agree that's a part of it, and I think many people (myself included) overlook it because it's one of the stranger parts of the concept, one so ancient and so deeply embedded within our history, we can't ever expect to fathom it. As for your question, I probably won't be studying the subject anytime soon, primarily because I have other commitments that prevent me from having the time to do so. I will, however, admit that it's an intriguing subject, and I'm open to learning more about it in the future.
