I miss the old bungie

TL:DR Bungie was changed for the worst. I'm an elder mythic member from the ye old times of bungie. When the old hawtness was the new hawtness. When we could get jokes about "sofish" the "disembodied soul", "pimps a the sea". Seriously I had to play destiny just to participate? I' have been a member for years and I wasn't allowed to talk until I downloaded the Destiny demo that's messed up. That's like bungie telling me that all my years as a fan mean nothing unless I buy Destiny (never mind me buying all their games before that one). Speaking of Destiny ... it's such a disappointment. The story was weak (compared to halo and marathon's amazing lore). "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain"... really Bungie? The game is nothing but a huge Skinner box. A mindless waste of time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RzIDj0FGH0 I miss the old days I could spend days with fellow bungie fans on their story, plots and lore. They fired the legendary Maty Odonell. The one that made Halo's music legendary on shitty fiasco. Seriously guys... he was a genius and worth every cent. Then they made the entire staff to rewrite the amazing story destiny was supposed and made Joseph Staten leave, because the higher ups didn't like it :/ http://kotaku.com/the-messy-true-story-behind-the-making-of-destiny-1737556731 I do think Bungie was better with Microsoft than with Activition. /Rant over.

A lot of the people who made Halo/Marathon/Pathways into Darkness/Myth either went on to other projects or continued Halo with 343. I would be surprised of most of the orignal crew are still with Bungie, as we have already lost Joseph Staten and Marty (I have not heard about Jason Jones in a while). Bungie wanted new things, so they made Destiny. They split from Microsoft. Ten years only working on Halo would be tiring. Just look at Call of Duty. It's limping towards eventual death. Bungie did not want to do that, so they wanted change

    • I think a large portion of the loss was the disappearance of the content creators and curators; those community individuals that kept the lore alive. A lot of the old guard left during the "darkness" days between Reach and Destiny. The second part of the equation would be the shift in the gaming culture as a whole. It's more more interconnected now, with third party interests, such as Twitch, Let's Plays, and other Op Ed-like content taking center stage for extra-game entertainment and community cohesion. There's just not much of a market for people who grew up on Bungie.net versus those that now grow up in gaming/on the internet. To me, it's sort of like the Eternal September of my generation.

      • Sadly, Bungie of old is gone. The greatness rapidly becoming a thing of the past. They can fix it, but with all the success of their initial release on this game I think blinded them to what is really going on. A retreating fan base from the broken story, lack of dedicated servers, poor gameplay and other various issues have stunted what greatness this game can have in the future.

      • With new leadership, hopefully Bungie can recover some of its former glory.

      • Got to agree with you. I also love videos like that shows you why some of the features of video games are great and important, especially when it is something so easy to overlook.
