Obsolete and thoughtless design features in Guardian gear (armor, weapons and ships)
Is it just me, or do others think that there is some surprisingly ugly Guardian gear? In addition to being ugly, some gear pieces have design features which are simply (and stupidly) obsolete, which clearly do not fill a function, and are there just because it was cool to put these design features there. I guess someone at Bungie went like "hey man, lets put three spheres on the right shoulder of the Warlock's Kellbreaker's Gloves, it will look so spacey man!"
I'm an architect by profession and one of my philosophies is that function, form and aesthetics must be joined, they need to work together. If you add a design feature which fills no function then it is completely obsolete and needs to go away, there's no need for it. I wish that Bungie could think about this. If they did, their work on the gear would feel more thought-through and more genuine.
Some examples of the new HoW gear that displays obsolete design elements is the Warlock's Kellbreaker's Gloves which sports three spheres on the right shoulder of the character. They're just there because they look cool and fill no function. In my opinion, these spheres are dead-ass ugly. Another example is the Titan's Kellslayer's Helm, which has some sort of airplane looking wings. Why are these there and what function do they fill? Anyway, this helm is unbelievably ugly. Another example is the Titan's ACD/0 Feedback Fence, which are indeed nice looking, but I'm really bothered by the fact that the gauntlet's triangular plates pulsate up and down. WHY!? It looks really stupid! What function do the motion of the plates fill? Another example is the Hunter's Khepri’s Sting. Jesus Christ, a bug? A bug on the forearm with its legs in constant motion? It looks just... Stupid! Stupid and thoughtless.
Has the design team at Bungie lost its creativity? Have they run out of ideas?
Another example which makes one question the creativity of the design team at Bungie are the Dark Below gear and space ships. All that just looks as if Bungie took the old gear and ships and clad them with bone-looking plates and whatnot. What's the point with that? Why not design something from scratch and thoroughly which would look like it comes from the Hive world. Why take something old and re-skin it? It's pointless and thoughtless. Is Bungie lazy?

I want to know why her Elector's Robe body armor is just a reskin of the old Viper's Spine Vanguard armor (meh) with a New Monarchy symbol slapped on it. I want to know why my Titan's Commando Type 0 arm armor has an envelope on one shoulder. Sadly, this is actually an improvement over the Vanguard arm armor he used to have which had what looked like a brown fuzzy toilet seat cover on one shoulder. But above all else, what is that hook for on my Hunter's Gravebreaker 2.2 Vanguard arm armor?! Every time I see that thing flapping about, I have a heart-stopping moment when I fancy a spectral white arm is reaching toward her to tap her on the shoulder. When I'm in a location with Hive, it freaks me out. Do better, Bungie.

6 RespuestasThis is the reason why I will quit Destiny for now. Year one grinder, year one lover. But we get kicked in the nuts for buying directly. Everything we earned hardly is pointless now. New players get the stuff in days, less grinding, less effort. So why put in the time into Destiny, when I can get the full experience end of next summer/fall sometime after the next two DLCs have been released. Buy it cheaper, have less effort and [b] waste less time![/b]

( legendary ) The obsidian mind is same as what warlock leader sold before , But just painted black. There is NO good looking legendary helm for warlocks. New HOW gear from vendors is UGLY House of Jedgement Gear is UGLY ( except few) The helm for titans looks like a motorcycle handle. The warlocks helm from Variks.....Design is BAD BAD BAD. Whats with the ragged warlock chest pieces? Why are they torn from the bottom, Whats with one side high and other side low. Its UGLy! stop doing that. Add wear and tear to the hunters! they look good with that, They are hunters ... There messed cloak looks good. But not on warlocks. What bungie does is called Kit bashing. I work in a 3d industry my self and I am a 3d Modeler. I tell my self. WTF is bungie designing with ? They take a weapon reskin it and give it a new name. They use a ship add another part from another ship and give it a new name. Perfect example is BONES of EAO its made from parts of Skull of Ahamkara, Bones circlet from Crotas raid and Spine of Ahamkara for hunters. I mean like seriousl what the F! you are using a warlocks bond on a hunters leg armor? and its clearly visible. Comon , Just lazy on bungie part and saving production cost.

Too true my freind too true. It's reallylike they have hired a bunch of 4 year olds (who build the models) and a load of striaght from school fasion/design students. Who are totally into every recent trend (hence the orange blue ugly ugly shaders). TBH were luck they don't all have twirly mutaches and fedora's.

It's hard to imagine that important designe people sat around a table and said that looks really good.

lol, I like your comment and agree. I've always wondered why the hunter's left and right shoulder armor have different things. (i.e. don't touch me exotic) What is the point of the dumb looking horn on one side.

(titan gaunts from PoE has an.. odd appendage on one shoulder... why? XD) As for some of these Items, I ave not yet seen, but will take your word on it (except feedback fence, I want to see what is going on there so I understand your issue, I might have a reasonable explanation for it,.. depending on how they represented it...) Agree with comment on DB stuff... (necrochasm was one of the best do(s)for bungie while most the other weapons were examples of don't(s),)
