Crota's End, smart loot system?

Hey guys, First of all, this isn't a 'Destiny sucks, bc I don't get any loot' post. I just wanna share some opinions with you and maybe start an informative discussion. I, for myself, don't know what's going on behind Bungie's loot system but overall it seems that it isn't random at all. I'm mainly talking about the droprates in the Crota's End raid. I've finished it quite often on NM and a few times on HM. On NM I already got the shotgun 4 times and the fusion rifle 2 times. I got the helmet once and several times I just got shards and energies from Crota. I'm not ranting but when Bungie said that the new loot system will be smarter I expected something different. Over the last 3 weeks I ran the normal raid with both of my characters (Warlocks on level 32 and 31) which is a total of 6 runs and I just got shards and energy from Crota, no special weapons at all. On the other hand I got every primary weapon apart from the scout rifle in just one run of HM. It just seems odd to me when comparing the loot some of my friends get all the time. A friend of mine already got the Gjallarhorn 3 times in a row when doing normal mode while others just get a class item for the hundredth time. Another funny thing I experienced myself is: I never got lucky in getting the Icebreaker so I finally purchased it from Xur a while back. Two weeks later I had my second character maxed out on level 31 and what happened? On my first Crucible match with the 2nd character I got the Icebreaker, a day later Ir Yut dropped it for me in the raid, the same day a Legendary Engram turned into Icebreaker and a week after I got the Icebreaker from a ROC strike. For me there are too many strange things going on and the whole loot system, especially regarding the one in the raid and how exotics drop, seems like it isn't RNG at all. How are your thoughts about it? edit 1: Just got both the Black Hammer and Hunger of Crota in two consecutive runs with my two characters. I don't want to rub this under anyone's nose, it just seems odd to me getting both weapons I wanted in a 20min timeframe.

  • Honestly , it's a love, hate relationship. I HATE the loot because it gives me every piece of armor in one run and I'm left hoping for a piece of armor with a better roll. Whereas in VoG, I had a full strength chestplate and was happy! I love VoG's loot system for the randomness, but when I get the Word of Crota after two runs, and the Fatebringer after (and I'm not kidding) 67 runs, there seems to be a little bit of brokenness. Crotas loot system gives everyone everything, and VoG's loot system was completely random and unfair at times. I think that there might be an alternative and that is to decrease the chances to get certain items (like armor) and have it so it's more random. I feel VoG had the better loot system, but IMO they were both not perfect.
