May I ask why you drink so much Coca Cola? And how are your teeth holding up?
-
I just love it. My teeth are completely fine, hilariously. I told my dentist how much Coke I drink and he was shocked that my teeth remain in such good condition. No cavities. No extra yellowing (did you know, teeth are naturally slightly yellow?). Me: 2 Doctors: 0 Dentists: 0

How are you physically? I assume you do a lot of sport?
-
Not as active as I'd like to be at the moment but that'll change over the summer when I get back home and back into my routine. I feel I'm putting on but that's more likely the alcohol from uni than anything else. Blood pressure is fine.
-
Aha, you answered my next question before I asked it;), I have to say you are quite an interesting case of medicine. 4 years on an average of two cans of Coca Cola, legit?
-
Legit. Some days I might not have any, or just one, but some days I will have three to five cans worth. It might be worth noting that I don't tend to eat sugary foods though, so perhaps it's balancing me out? I mean, if a can is 39% of my recommended daily allowance and I go through two a day, that's 78% of my allowance. I can only be eating around 150% of my recommended amount at the most.
-
Indeed. However (depending on how quickly you drink them) it is like pumping yourself full of sugar over a small time period, repeatedly. This would generally cause increased blood pressure and excessive mood swings, yet you experience neither? And you are still increasing your sugar intake by a half (or there abouts) with little to no negative effect on yourself.
-
I'll typically have one with lunch and one with dinner, so I'll drink them over several minutes. No Cola guzzling. No increased blood pressure and no mood swings. In fact, I tend to be more relaxed after having a can.
-
So it makes you feel relaxed? -Another thought, been checked for type 2 diabetes at all?
-
Haven't had any checks related to diabetes because I'm in good health and no members of my family have any form of diabetes. I suppose I wouldn't say relaxed as upbeat. But to me being upbeat is being relaxed. I often get grumpy and aggressive on games when losing, but I tend to find that after a can my mood is lifted.
-
Type 2 diabetes is non genetic, and so your family history does not matter when it comes to that form. It is instead caused by excessive amounts of glucose entering the body and rendering insulin to be useless. You become upbeat? Would you say that you feel comforted by drinking Coca Cola? Were you given it frequently as a child?
-
Ah righto, thought it was 2 that was genetic and 1 that wasn't. Nevermind. Isn't that what always happens when you get a large amount of sugar entering the body? You feel energetic and get a brief boost. That boost tends to be enough to keep my mood up for the day, unless some scoundrel steals my kill again. Comforted isn't really a good term, I'd say I just enjoy the taste and find them quite refreshing. As for having it when I was younger, I know that I would have a glass of Coca Cola with meals on nights out, which was infrequent, so the answer to that one would be no.
-
It is, however you appear to be (for lack of a better phrase) slightly dependent on it. Would you be interested in going maybe a week without it, and pm'ing me the results? A somewhat experiment if you will? Just explaining how you're feeling.
-
Sure, I'll ditch it from now until next Thursday and let you know of any changes.

Thanks man!
