Judging by some of the previewed weapons, the stats of those weapons arent much better, even worse, than of those we already own...
So i dont get the frustration of some people saying that the new system might ""sunset"" older weapons or making them obselete...

Seasonal gear when equipped will allow for a greater % dmg bonus. Does 3 x crappy weapons out dps 3 well rolled weapons with 15% less dps - no... But if there are 3 better seasonal weapons they will out dps 3 non seasonal - I haven't seen what weapons are available in the DLC; so - overall I'd agree that most players are severely overreacting.

The weapons won’t be as big as a difference than the armour no. This is something I wrestled with a while when adepts came into the game. I always want the ‘best’ loot even if it’s marginally better or not even noticeable in terms of gameplay. I enjoy going for those ‘trophies’ but Bungie see a FOMO culture propagate and even a sense of entitlement that all players believe they should get these items. They made every reward more accessible and less special and now anyone can get an adept and everyone thinks they should have the best gear. I see this culture more than ever and there will be uproar if all players can’t get tier 5’s but I think Bungie just need to ride it and keep them special. I’m certain all weapons we currently have will be able to complete every PvE and PvP pursuit that will be introduced.

Current double stacked shiny adapts are going to be the equivalent of tier 2’s. That means that most of the 3/5, 4/5, and even 5/5 crafted legendaries will be obsolete as soon as you get even a mediocre collection of tier 4 & 5’s. They’ll still be technically useable, but it would be like choosing a vanilla D2 static roll with a single legendary perk over a current double stacked shiny adapt with multiple origin traits.

The thing with the tier system is that it better accompanies the difficulty system in game. There’s multiple difficulties, why have there only been two tiers of loot before? Doing higher content will now reward high tier loot. The fact of it being high tier is more meaningful than the actual gameplay benefits given, similar to Adept weapons.

Editado por ben: 6/13/2025 1:11:27 AMThe new weapons in edge of fate will have a damage bonus and the armour will have set bonuses and stats that current armour does not have, to encourage us to use the new stuff. That being said, Im sure the upper echelon of what we have right now will be irreplaceable. Think tinasha's mastery... how long until we get another rocket sidearm with chill clip. Doesnt matter if it does a bit less damage. Think velocity baton, the attrition+demo combo on an area denial is irreplaceable, its not a damage weapon. Hezen with timelost magazine. No hesitation with physic and circle of life. I can confidently say these weapons are here to stay even without the damage buff and the tier 5 bonuses, until new guns come out with the same or comparable rolls which I imagine will take some time. We've seen some of the new guns have rolls that will replace current top tier weapons, such as the energy rocket sidearm that can get incandescent and lead for gold, that will replace aberrant action especially if it can get heal clip.
