Before I read further I’d like to know your thoughts on comp having control. Clash is perfect for comp - it’s kill or be killed - in control it’s literally hold the zone. That’s fine if I was in a fireteam and for fireteams it’s an easy W. But as a solo player I lose 80+% of control matches. Objection based gameplay like full on control has no place in 3v3 in my opinion. If they want to make it like trials then fine, survival in comp would be fine with me.

  • Clash is the most boring mode in Destiny. People don’t push and have no incentive to push or flank because a single kill can tip the match. I experience this and I’m not even very good… can’t imagine the stagnation of a Clash match in top tier lobbies

  • The thing I’ve noticed with control specifically in comp, is that the higher your rank gets the more people play in a way that makes it interesting. Like generally every time I rank up the whole experience gets a little better because more people who play poorly have failed to reach this rank. I’m finding that my win percentage and kd improve as I rank up, and I attribute a lot of that to playing smart being more effective when you have team mates who also play smart. So generally I think it’s fine, but I do remember in gold after placements it was much harder to win control matches. It really comes down to the skill of moving with your team and supporting them with smart flanks, and knowing when to run and regroup and being able to escape and not have over committed so you can do that. The more people have that team presence skill the easier it is to win team fights and thus get map control and hold a cap point. The inverse of playing off your teammates is having team mates who are basically playing rumble, just w key only always running at the other team with no awareness or care about what teammates are doing. It is so much harder to carry teams like that. Not only do you have to win your fights, but you have to win enough to compensate for your teammates losses.
