21. A new studio that actually gives a -blam!- about this game
English
-
Which studio would you like to see take over? Has to be a Sony studio.
-
Yeah Sony’s they literally own Bungie and it’s IP’s
-
Sony is only a parent company, bungie retained autonomy, a "subsidiary" of sony if you will (pending certain stipulations are met). Also, bungie retained the ownership and rights of all their ip's as well (sony owns none of that). So just handing it to another studio isnt so cut and dry.
-
So Sony acquired Bungie but not their IP’s? That makes no sense at all If you pay 3.5 billion dollars to own a company you OWN that company no matter how fancy way you wanna put it
-
The business world isnt so easy as "i paid xx amout i OWN you." Thats not how it works. Think of it this way, i have a company that has an ip. Another company says "we will buy your company" for xx amount. Ok, and i counter with "ok, you get the financial rewards (profit) invest in my products, but i still control who and where it goes, and i want complete ownership of my products. You cant sell them to or use them in movies, other games, et etc without me approving it. Said company says ok we agree to the those terms, but only if you make xx amount in profit for such and such amount of time. If not then we get your everything herein.

I see, thanks for the insight

Thats correct, bungie retained the rights and ownership of their ip's. Thats why i said its not so cut and dry. Bc of the agreement, bungie is under the SIE umbrella but retains complete autonomy. Barring they 1. Meet financial thresholds and 2. Retain player engagement metrics sony laid out (i dont know these exactly they werent made public knowledge). So, sony cant use, sell, lend, any of bungies ips licenses yadda yadda without bungies approval.

I personally can only think of two that Sony owns that would be a good fit.
