Nah. This meta isn't very fun. People just flocked to sidearms and more passive playstyles in light of the special ammo nerf. There were also exotics that were punished for no good reason like Truth and The First Curse due to the HC range reduction. Not the best. The balancing patch leading up to the high point in House of Wolves was the best, imo. Primaries AND secondaries were all threatening and the game felt more satisfying to play. Yeah, it wasn't perfect since Thorn/TLW were an issue, but it was a hell of a lot better than what's going on currently.
