Destiny Update and Installation Vital Information

If you're returning to Destiny 1, you may have a few Hotfixes or Updates to install before you can sign in. Below is a list of Vital Information to help you get back in the game.

  • Manually Checking for Updates: For consoles that are taking an abnormally long time to begin the update process, players can attempt to manually start the update process by using the consoles "Check for Update" option. For more information, please see our Updating Destiny Guide.
  • Hard Drive Requirements: Players should ensure they have the proper amount of console storage space available to complete the full installation process. For more information, please see the Console Storage Space guide.
  • Patch Notes: Full notes for each new update and for previous updates can be viewed on the Game Updates pages
  • Interrupting Downloads: Some consoles will attempt to verify all previously downloaded content before downloading a Destiny updates. If any issues are found, or the verification process is interrupted, all previous content will be deleted and downloaded once more.

If you experience any issues downloading updates and are unable to resolve your issue with the troubleshooting links above, please post a report to the #Help forum.

Deleted Item and Character Policy
The choices players make in Destiny are often permanent. Please be careful when performing any manual removal actions. 

Please note: Exotic Weapons/Armor, Emblems, Shaders, Ships, Sparrows, Emotes, and Quests that have been dismantled after update 2.0 was released may be re-acquired from their respective Collections.  Re-acquiring items from some Collections may have an in-game cost associated with them.

Weekly Lockouts and Progression Resets
Some high level activities use a weekly lockout for earning activity-specific rewards. Players have until Tuesday at 2:00 AM Pacific (9:00 AM UTC) to complete these activities and earn the activity-specific rewards for the week.
