Community Focus - Universo Destiny

The Destiny community is a large umbrella that spans the planet. Within it, you can find thousands of smaller communities around Clans, personalities, and fan sites. Some of these sites are dedicated to serving Guardians of a specific language. We recently featured The Tower Destiny Italia, a nice place created to serve Guardians who speak Italian. Today, we’re continuing our world tour with a site dedicated to Spanish-speaking players of Destiny.

Who are you? What is your favorite subclass in Destiny?

David: Hi there! My name is David (Gt: junky24 and @junky2407 on Twitter), and I’m delighted to do this as a founder of this project. We’re Universo Destiny (Destiny Universe) a Spanish community focused on your game. I like seeing how we’ve become an interesting community, moreover to foreigners’ eyes, perhaps it looks somehow “exotic” from your perspective. It’s fun for me to think like that! But it’s even much more fun to use my favorite class, Titans, thanks to which I enjoy crushing my enemies’ bones!

From here on, I’ll let my partners answer the following questions!

We’re glad to have you as a part of this global community. Tell us about the role you play in the Destiny community. Where can we find you?

Virtualete: Hi there you all, lovely strangers! My nickname is Virtualete, I’m the manager in charge of all the content in our YouTube channel. Since May 2014, Universo Destiny is a Spanish-spoken community where the bring news, guides, entertainment and guardians discuss and set up Fireteams. We followed Bungie's steps as well as Destiny's even before the name was known. Creating a community is hard if the game is famous, so we thought they should both grow together. The project Bungie had been working on was appealing and we made our choice, we bet that one would be our Destiny. We have a website, Twitter, and a YouTube channel.

Thanks for sticking with us from the beginning. Is there anything that sets your site apart from other Destiny fan sites?

Wachy: Wachy here (Wachysnein on PSN, @wachysnein on Twitter) the latest information released by any international media can be found, translated into Spanish, in Universo Destiny website. Moreover, every week we update all the information about weekly activities and, now more than ever, we’re designing and organizing events and competitions in order to keep the interest of the Hispanic community as well as to maintain their love for Destiny. We have a couple new competitions ready to be released when the April Update goes live.

These competitions sound like fun. Do you have any feedback for the Spanish translation team?

Nimrhodel: Pleased to meet you, Nimrhodel here (PsnID: Nimrhodel, @nimrhodel on Twitter) also known as the “Englishman” in the staff. In my opinion, the translation has been very effective in Spanish, both via voice and text. The only detail I’d try to balance is the subtle difference in some gear pieces’ names which seems to be a bit incoherent once they’re translated. Apart from that, you’ve done an excellent job which helps the game reach a wider audience.

Our localization team appreciates the feedback. What’s your favorite way to share the game with other people?

Knoss: Hey there! This is Knoss (@KnossJXN on Twitter, XtrnL Knoss on Xbox Live). It feels great to be a part of such a massive community. What I personally enjoy most in Destiny is the ability to share lots of different content with very different types of player (competitive, casual… or even dancers). But there’s one thing I think it’s the best of all. Last year I attended the PlayStation Experience event in San Francisco and met a LOT of fans. Being surrounded by people who talk about Destiny, all of them having fun in races and taking photos or hanging out with the Bungie crew. That was awesome. Who wouldn’t like to be in a place where you can meet so many great people face to face? I think the true meaning of share comes with interactivity. This is why we propose so many challenges and questions to our followers.

We had a great time showing off Sparrow Racing at PSX. Glad you could make it. Is there anything that Bungie can do to better support the Spanish Destiny community?

Cristobal: Hello, guardians. My name is Cristobal (@cristobalgc10 on twitter), one of the founder here at Universo Destiny. Being here, at the Community Focus, is already a big satisfaction and support to our work. The hardest part is keeping up to date with the released information so as to start working as soon as it is released in order to properly offer that information to our followers. We translate and summarize the all of the content in Bungie.net, just a little later, but it would be perfect if we could do it at the same time you publish it.

Every week we challenge all the Clans to accomplish some goals. We also offer prizes whenever we have the chance. It’s not always possible and we can only send physical prizes to residents in Spain but 50% of our followers belong to Latin America. Being able to have digital prizes would allow us to expand the audience who could participate to the whole world. We’re hoping to see you in our next challenge so you can check the rules and mechanics.

We’ll give you some Blacksmith Shader codes to give out during your next challenge. Are there any changes or additions you would like to make to Destiny?

Michael: Hi Guardians, I’m Michael (aka @MickyV11 on social media), I translate and make videos about all the Destiny stuff that’s in English, for our Spanish users. I also make videos for our YouTube channel from time to time.

I’d love to have ‘’Private matches’’ on Destiny. I love the Crucible. It’s a fun game mode and it would be such an amazing experience to play with all the guys from above (Universo Destiny staff) and also host Tournaments for our subscribers and all the Destiny players all over the world.

Make sure you give Universo Destiny a visit. You can also check out bungie.net with the site's language set to Spanish for all the latest news and updates as they become available! If you have an idea on who we should focus on in future articles - you can make suggestions by posting in the #Community forum with the tag #CommunityFocus.
