Destiny 2 players can enable “120Hz Crucible Mode”. When enabled, all Crucible game modes will target 120 frames per second. With this mode enabled, some graphical settings, like resolution, are lowered in Crucible game modes only. All other parts of the game (e.g. Tower, Strikes, Free Roam, etc.) target 4k resolution at 60 frames per second.

How to Enable 120Hz Crucible Mode on Xbox Series X

Connect your Xbox Series X to a compatible 120Hz display
Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select Settings > General > TV & display options. Set your Refresh rate to 120Hz
Launch Destiny 2
After selecting a character and reaching orbit, open the in-game Start Menu and go to Settings > Video and set 120Hz Mode (Crucible Only) to ON

How to Enable 120Hz Crucible Mode on Playstation 5

Connect your Playstation 5 to a compatible 120Hz display
Launch Destiny 2
After selecting a character and reaching orbit, open the in-game Start Menu and go to Settings > Video
Set 120Hz Mode (Crucible Only) to ON

HDMI 2.0 Displays that support 120Hz on Xbox Series X

Some HDMI 2.0 displays support 120Hz but only at resolutions lower than 4k (1440p or 1080p). If your HDMI 2.0 display is compatible with Xbox Series X at 120Hz, you’ll want to enable the following settings to ensure you can play Crucible at 120Hz and also play other parts of the game at the highest possible resolution.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Settings > General > TV & display options. Under the Advanced column, choose Video modes and check the options to Allow 4K and Allow HDR10
Enabling these settings should allow the game to switch seamlessly between 120Hz and lower resolution in Crucible Modes to 60Hz and 4k resolution in all other modes of Destiny 2.

If your Display is Flickering with 120Hz mode enabled

Update your TVs firmware to the latest version
Try disabling VRR by going to Settings > General > TV & display options and uncheck Allow variable refresh rate
