Prison of Elders
All Platforms
The Prison of Elders is an arena-style PvE activity located within the Reef. Update 2.2.0 introduced two new Arenas, bringing the total number of Arenas in the Prison of Elders activity to six.

The Level 28 and 41 Arenas are playlists that can be played multiple times throughout the week, while the Level 32, 34, 35, and 42 Arenas have Lockouts and Progression Resets tied to the Weekly Reset.  For specific information on the Level 42 Arena, please see our Challenge of the Elders help page.

Entry Requirements

To access the Level 28, 32, 34, and 35 activities, players must:

  • Own Destiny: The House of Wolves
  • Complete the "Eye of the Gatelord" Quest to access The Reef
  • Complete the "House of Wolves" Quest from Petra
  • Have their Character level be 28 or higher
  • Complete the lower level Arenas at least once to access the higher level Arenas

Critical Objectives

Within the Arenas of the Prison of Elders, players may encounter rounds with Critical Objectives. If these objectives are not successfully completed they will cause players to wipe and lose the round, even if all other enemies and bosses for that round have been defeated.

Prison of Elders Vital Information

Below is a list of Vital Information for the Prison of Elders:

  • Reputation Consumables: Armor Cores, Weapon Cores, Etheric Light, and Treasure Keys have all been converted to consumable items that can be used to increase either House of Judgement or Queen’s Wrath Reputation depending on the item used.

  • Checkpoints: There are no checkpoints in the Prison of Elders Arenas. Once the activity has been started, it must be completed or all progress for the attempt will be lost.

  • Overmind Minotaur: The detainment fields created by the Overmind Minotaur can no longer be damaged by other Fireteam members and must be destroyed by the player that is trapped within the field.

  • Treasure Room: Occasionally, players may be unable to enter the Treasure Room because their characters died after completing the final round or they had connection issues. It is recommended that players still remain in the activity until the "Mission Complete" prompt appears so that they may receive any activity completion rewards they earned.

  • Treasure Keys: Players may not be able to transfer Treasure Keys using Bungie.net or the Destiny Mobile Companion App. Treasure Keys can still be transferred manually in-game using the Vault.
