Destiny Server and Update Status
All Platforms
Occasionally, Destiny may be brought offline for scheduled or emergency maintenance, or to update the game to address gameplay issues or add in-game features. Please see below for information on upcoming Server Maintenance or Destiny Updates.


Server Maintenance and Downtime Timeline

There is currently Destiny server maintenance scheduled for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on: Thursday 3/23/2017.

09:00 AM Pacific (04:00 PM UTC)
  • Destiny server maintenance is scheduled to begin.
  • There is no downtime or player impact expected.
01:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM UTC)
  • Destiny server maintenance is scheduled to end. 
  • The server maintenance will not introduce any content changes or gameplay impact. 

  • No Downtime Expected: There is no downtime or player impacted expected with this server maintenance. Players that encounter issues from the server maintenance may post a report of the issue in the #Help forums. 

  • No Content Changes: This server maintenance period will not introduce any content changes or gameplay impact.


Destiny Update Timeline

Destiny is scheduled to receive Update 2.6.0 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on: Tuesday 3/28/2017.

10:00 AM Pacific (05:00 PM UTC)
  • Players will be returned to the login screen and prompted to download an update for Destiny.
  • Some consoles may take longer to automatically remove players from the game and prompt them to download the update.
02:00 PM Pacific (09:00 PM UTC)
  • All online players who have not installed Update 2.6.0 will be removed from their activities to the login screen to take the Update.

  • Some Activities UnavailableOn 3/28/2017, the Weekly Heroic Strike and Weekly Nightfall Playlists will be unavailable after 2:00 AM Pacific (9:00 UTC). Once players have downloaded and installed Update 2.6.0, they will be able to access the new versions of these Activities. Players that attempt to launch one of these activities will receive a HONEYDEW error code. For more information, please see this blog post

  • Manually Checking for Updates: For consoles that are taking an abnormally long time to begin the update process, players can attempt to manually start the update process by using the consoles "Check for Update" option. Additionally, players may want to clear the console cache if their console still does not recognize an update is available. For more information, please see our Updating Destiny Guide.   


Bungie.net and Companion App Maintenance and Downtime Timeline

There is currently Bungie.net and Companion App maintenance and downtime scheduled to coincide with the Update 2.6.0 deployment on: Tuesday 03/28/2017

10:00 AM Pacific (05:00 PM UTC)
  • Maintenance will begin on Bungie.net and the Companion App.
  • Vendors will be unavailable on Bungie.net and the Companion App during the maintenance period.
2:00 PM Pacific (09:00 PM UTC)
  • Maintenance is scheduled to end on Bungie.net and the Companion App.


Vital Information

Below is information on Destiny Updates or Server Maintenance that players may find helpful:

  • BungieHelp Twitter: On days in which Destiny is receiving an Update or Server Maintenance, players can follow @BungieHelp on Twitter for updates on the process and timeline for the server maintenance or update deployment.

  • Destiny Companion: Sign-in functionality and Destiny Companion services on the Mobile App and Bungie.net may be restricted during the maintenance window. Additionally, the Vendor pages in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and the Mobile App may be temporarily unavailable when Destiny is undergoing maintenance and updating.

  • Interrupting Downloads: Some consoles will attempt to verify all previously downloaded content before downloading a Destiny updates. If any issues are found, or the verification process is interrupted, all previous content will be deleted and downloaded once more. For more information, please see our Updating Destiny Guide.


  • Maintenance Notification: Players signed in shortly before maintenance will receive notice via in-game messaging that a maintenance will be starting soon.

  • Error Code Sheep: Players may encounter the SHEEP error code when they attempt to join a Fireteam in which any member has not updated to the latest version of Destiny. To resolve this issue, please have all players close Destiny and install the latest update.

  • Legacy Consoles: Destiny will remain on Update 2.3.1.1 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Legacy Consoles. For more information on Destiny Updates availability on Legacy Consoles, please see our Legacy Consoles Guided Support.

  • Update Notes: Full notes for each new update and for previous updates can be viewed on the Game Updates pages.

  • Hard Drive Requirements: Players should ensure they have the proper amount of console storage space available to complete the full installation process. For more information, please see the Console Storage Space guide.

  • Update Name: Some consoles may display a different name for the update than the one listed above.
