One disappointment

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the beta. Most fun I've had with a game in a long time, but there was one thing that disappointed me. Customization. Now, this one of the most hyped features of Destiny, absurd amounts of customization. I honestly feel they didn't deliver on this in the beta. Before I go any further, I want you to know I realize this is a beta, but being launched only a couple of months before true launch? Doubtful most of what I'm mentioning could or would be added, unless they've had the beta build in their pocket for a lot longer than we think. Or work hella hard. Character customization itself was pretty awesome (Aside form no beards, and that was a BLAMing sin) but everything else was lacking IMHO. First off, we can't customize our ship. I'm stuck with whatever colors and pattern I get, and that's that. This seems a fairly big thing to not implement in the game IMO. But perhaps I'm wrong and just isn't in the beta build. Second, Sparrows. See above. Third, Shaders. Yes, I know we can't even use them cuz level 20 but just looking at the item picture, they seemed quite bland. Maybe the item pic doesn't do it justice. Can't really judge, just a thought. Does seem kinda weak that we can't just pay someone to make it any colors we want. Fourth, Weapons. I would think if this was going to be in the final game, then the Gunsmith would at least have the option for it. Fifth, emblems. Not seeing any color options for this was kind of a letdown. Final note: Like I said, I know it's a beta. If this had been launched some months ago, I could totally see them not having these things in it but having them in the final game. Furthermore, what worries me most is we don't see the option for most of these things. We can't use Shaders, so we don't know how they look. But we see them for sale, and we see the slot they are equipped into. The same cannot be said for making a custom reticle. Or changing ship colors. We don't really see anything that leads me to believe this would be implemented. Anywho, thanks for listening. It's late, so maybe I'm just talking out of my Yoink and not making sense. I love Destiny, it's a wonderful game and I can't wait for the launch. It just seems if customization was hyped this much, these are things we'd have when the final game launches. And if these are things we'll have when it launches, these are things that would at least be hinted at.

  • Your first 3 points are right on. For weapons I hope they at least give you an option to add or change the sight. The last gun I got was great and when I unlocked the ago-red dot I was finally aiming with much better precision. Don't remember your 5th point big let me add that I think we should be able to change hairstyles and color from time to time and maybe the markings to. Never the face just things that normal people would do. I feel it would keep your character fresh while still being the same. This seems important if our characters are gonna be with through all of Destiny.

  • The only thing that bothered me was i didnt see any way to keep the look of one armor piece. Like, what if i like the look of a piece of an armor but i like the stats better on the other? idk, maybe its in full game an has some form of overlay. But I just want to have full control on what I look like,

All I am disappointed about is that the moon mission closed before i could free roam. I went for the objectives. :( But I can relate to some of this.

      • The thing you dot understand Is bungie is just hiding it from us so we get it in the real game. There is a pic of the color schemes somewhere I forget where. But they change the armor completely? You just have to look it up. It's pretty cool. The ships sparrows and emblems are all time based for a reason guy. That way you have to play the game, find the ones you want when they are available at that moment in time. That's why. And for guns it's the same way. The guns are very different, we just didn't get to them. But the same shingin can have different sights. You just have to acquire it through progress and play time. That's how the game works, have to put time into it to find the things you are gonna love. As for the restriction in content, it's because bungie even said last night in a stream. Deej stated (approx) "You ever get hyped for a movie and your friends sees it before you do, but says the only good parts are in the preview commercials? Well that's what we don't want with destiny. We almost gave too much in the beta. We want everyone to be surprised and love what they find instantly". So do some research my friend, until the game come out. You'll find what you are disappointed in actually is what's gonna make the game fantastic. -West
