Winners of the Vault of Glass Challenge #1

On September 16th Grimguard hosted its very first event: The Vault of Glass Challenge #1. The following is a question and answer with the fireteam that completed it first. Congratulations Guardians! So that fellow Grimguards may join you in future Destiny events and challenges. What is your Bungie.net name and Gamertag/PSN ID? ~Hello there i'm Marijus or Dessicar (both bungie/GT are the same) while most of the time people call me Dess. I would love for anyone on the xbox one side of things and are interested in raiding to give me a shout or a message. I enjoy hearing from the Grimguard members not matter what squad you are in. ~My Bungie.net profile and Gamertag are the same, ARi05 (A R I Zero Five). Like the rest of the fireteam, I play on the Xbox 1. ~My Bungie.net and Xbox Gamertag are both Crude JC Gamer ~Hey my bungie.net and gamer tag are NobelArchAngel ~Hey, my gamertag on Xone is Old Ben Lives ~My Gamertag is FoeHammer Lives on Xbox one, and my Bungie.net name is the same. How does it feel to be apart of the first all-Grimguard fireteam to complete the Raid? ~Ari05: To be honest, it feels fantastic, it took us a lot of work, and was really satisfying, even just beating the Vault was an achievement, but doing it first in the Clan is just icing on the cake. I recently got an Email from Xbox, saying that 1% of Destiny players on Xbox platforms had gotten the Raider achievement. Myself and quite a few of the others I did the raid with felt a real sense of accomplishment then. What do our fellow Grimguards who have yet to try the Raid need to know about it? ~Crude JC Gamer: Well you need a good team, preferably be around level 27/28 as the end gets pretty rough. Communicate A LOT, if you're quiet in the group and something is wrong how will your fellow guardian come to your aid? What was the breakdown of your fireteam? How many Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans and what level? ~Ari05: We actually had an even distribution of Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans. We had one dedicated Voidwalker, a Sunsinger who eventually switched to Voidwalker for Atheon. A pair of Defender Titans. And our hunters were a bladedancer, and a gunslinger. We started the Vault at level 26, but eventually had to stop and start up again, this gave us a few days to level up to 27 and 28 before we finally managed to beat everything. What was your strategy for defeating the final raid boss? ~Ari05: For Atheon, we had three players always go through the timestream, by always being the farthest from Atheon. One player always grabbed the relic and dealt with the mobs, while the other two focused on the oracles. A hint for the players still outside with Atheon, if you look on your radar, you can still see your teammates, and the gate you should open is the one closest to them. While you should still call out where you were sent, it is useful. What do you think was the most challenging part of the Raid for your fireteam? ~Dessicar: Ledges..... it is always the ledges. For the love of God watch where you are standing! lol but if I had to pin it down to one thing its the portal phases and the mobs inside. They can easily one shot you or kill you outright. We came up with just tossing out grenades and as the relic holder smashed down on them before the oracles spawned. It normally kills everything in one go and then its smooth sailing as long as you don't get insta killed by the harpies waiting outside the gate! As part of your prize, you will be able to select which squad you would like to be on. Do you plan on staying with your current squad or switching? ~Dessicar: I'm not sure, I like the sounds of the Crimson Stars but really i am not overly fussed about it. :) ~Ari05: I’m not sure if I’ll change my squad or not, I’m leaning toward not changing it though. I mostly play PvE, and I’m fine with anyone in the Grimguard being on my fireteam. ~Crude JC Gamer: I’ll probably stay with Crimson Star. I later looked and realized most of the people on our raid team were Thunder Wolves and haven’t played with any of my fellow Crimson Stars. ~NobelArchAngel: I plan on staying a Thunder Wolf for a few reasons. ~Old Ben Lives: I plan on staying in my current squad ~FoeHammer Lives: I plan on staying with the Night Reapers. It is said that the Vault of Glass contains legendary and exotic loot. What did you receive? ~NobelArchAngel: All the loot I have gotten so far is the shattered vault cloak, a scout rifle that does solar damage called Vision of Confluence, the exotic scout rifle MIDA Multi-Tool, and the chatterwhite shader. ~Old Ben Lives: I received quite a few awesome treasure, in the vault I received the exotic rocket launcher Truth, the Gloves of the Hezen Lords, the Cuirass of the Hezen Lords, the Tread of the Hezen Lords, the Chatterwhite shader, and the fully automatic legendary scout rifle Vision of Confluence, as well as shards and energy. ~Crude JC Gamer: All I received the entire time was Ascendant Shards, but for beating Atheon I received Atheon’s Epilogue and the Chatterwhite Shader ~ARi05: The first time I beat the Vault, I got a rocket launcher, Hezen’s Vengeance, it’s fantastic. I’ve done it a few more times, and have gotten the raid Sniper Praedyth’s Revenge, as well as the exotic Pulse Rifle Red Death. Everything I’ve picked up in the vault is fantastic and absolutely worth it. ~Dessicar: I have horrid loot rng so I haven't picked up much. The VoG legs for titan and a legendary scout rifle as well as the shader. I got a few shotguns but just scraped them down as I have loads of them already! Fingers crossed for more loots! ~FoeHammer Lives: The vault hates me haha! I have gone through three times and have received Atheons Epilogue, the Hunter cape, three Glass Minuets, and countless shards. How long did it take to complete the Raid? ~Ari05: It took us forty five minutes to open the Vault, a good four hours, at least, to beat the Templar. And Atheon took three hours or so. The Gatekeeper didn’t last long, two of our raid party had Gjallarhorn and smoked him so quickly his phase took us ten minutes. Any plans for this fireteam to tackle the Vault of Glass on Hard mode? ~Dessicar: For sure, I would really love to give the hard mode a go. I feel like we need just a little more gear and some proper scheduling so we can sit down and do it. Again, congratulations on your achievement Guardians. For their hard work and dedication, they will each receive the following: • 1 Grimguard T-Shirt • A one-time opportunity to select which squad they would like to be placed on • Eternal fame and glory in our Hall of Heroes *Calling All Squad Captains You've been patient, and we've been watching. This weekend, we will be contacting individuals regarding Squad Captain positions so be sure to check your email. If you receive a message from us presenting you with the opportunity, we will need your reply by Monday, October 6, 2014. Also, we will be mailing out prizes for the Vault of Glass challenge. If you have not submitted your information for prize redemption by tomorrow morning, you will not receive your prize so be sure to check your email for the prize redemption link. Once again, congratulations to the first Grimguard team to complete the Vault of Glass. Your legend will be recorded in our Hall of Heroes for all time. See you starside and May the Light be your guide.
