In both PvE and PvP settings, the composition of your team can make or break you. As we are gearing up for launch I wanted to throw a couple of concepts I've been working on up on the forums for you guys to check out. Make sure to check back tomorrow for another concept.
PvP:
Zone Control-
• 3 Titans, 2 Warlocks, 1 Hunter
Titan subclasses: 2 Defender, 1 Striker
Warlock subclasses: 1 Sunsinger, 1 Voidwalker
Hunter subclass: Gunslinger
Explanation:
The idea here is to maximize the zoning potential from both the Warlock and Titan classes while allowing the Hunter to act as the janitor so to speak.
Titan
The Defender subclass super Ward of Dawn provides valuable damage mitigation for your team while you are either capturing/defending an objective or controlling a desired location. Doubling up on this particular ability allows you to dictate conflicts for a more sustained period of time while simultaneous use can create an advantageous bottle neck effect if positioned properly.
Utilizing a Striker subclass in this composition allows you to optimize its super. Either as an engaging utility to gain initial control or as a defensive counter-measure FoH and some of the skills in its tree would work beautifully with the rest of the supporting cast.
Warlock
The Sunsinger subclass is really interesting. Radiance is going to be a staple in Destiny for a long time to come. Reviving Allies, granting buffs, reducing cool downs, and mitigating damage make for an excellent complement to the zoning aspects of this composition.
Voidwalker's tore up the Beta. Immense amounts of AoE damage make this subclass a nightmare for the less catious. Nova Bomb coupled with a Vortex grenade grant a second wave of zone control and tactical manipulation to the Titan's FoH and WoD.
Hunter
The Golden Gun is devastating. Though some fail to see its full potential. Speccing into Combustion and pairing it with the Incendiary Knife modifier give the Hunter a decent amount of AoE and DoT. Utilizing the movement speed and maneuverability of this class you can pressure opponents into ambushes, create a flanked attack or capitalize off of the mistake of a frontal engagement into this team setup. Aka the janitor.
Split Objectives:
To effectively control two objectives at once is difficult. I would pair 2 Titan's, a Defender and the Striker with the Voidwalker Warlock and have the 2nd group consist of the Sunsinger Warlock, the second Defender Titan and the Gunslinger. You maintain the defensive prowess in each group without diluting the main concept of zone control.

Sounds good in theory

You are going hard on the theory-crafting, friend.
