Funny how Bungie said that it was a mistake that vendor gear outclassed raid gear and made a raid obsolete and basically useless and the vendor gear starts at light level 30, but can reach light level 39. So once again the raid gear will become obsolete and people who buy this DLC will have the choice of skipping an entire raid just to access new content. Even though Bungie themselves said it would not happen again. This may be changed in the future who knows, but I'm going off the images we currently have and I'm already disappointed. The gear looks awesome, but the raid gear shouldn't become obsolete whenever a new dlc comes out. Hopefully Bungie isn't lying with the whole "fixing our mistakes" thing and actually changes this.

I actually prefer that there are alternatives to Raid Gear. Most of the "theming" of the raid gear I don't appreciate (I don't want to look like a Vex, thank you) and I like that I can still level, even if I'm a step behind the current raiders. My guess is that they'll offer an upgrade path for Raid gear - so that raid gear that got you to 30 could be upgraded to get you to 32, and then the 32 level gear could be upgraded to get you to 34, etc. This way the raid gear is always like a "shortcut" when new content comes out... but it will eventually have to be replaced. EDIT: I think I explained that poorly. Here's an example: If they allowed VOG gear to upgrade to 32 (via shards or something) then people who had a full set of VOG gear could very quickly get to 32 and use it in CE. Then, as they get CE gear, that gear would allow them to upgrade to 34 once HOW is out and they again have a quick path to max level.

You know, that idea isn't terrible! What they should also do is bump VoG to level 32 along with CE so that VoG doesn't completely disappear.

  • Thanks :) I'd rather see them add an additional heroic level to VoG than bump it up across the board. They'd still only need two loot tables - normal and heroic, and they could decide if they wanted to allow an extra run per week or not.

  • They couldn't possibly fix it with this particular DLC. The Vendor gear/Raid gear light level was too close. By moving it to light level 39, that gives them the opportunity to fix this. Say they make vendor gear up to level 35. Then they make raid gear 39. Now the next expansion comes out and they can bump vendor gear to say 38, and raid gear to 43. Then you are staying one level behind the previous raid gear thus giving it a usefulness. People are such shortsighted idiots to think that something like this can just be fixed by waiving a magic -blam!-ing wand! THAT IS ALL!!!!

  • Personally, i think they should throw in other gear in the raids. Add new sets. Like add a PvP set i can get by doing the raid, and a new Raid set for doing the PvP, so everything is balanced. And it would also expand the sets available for everyone. I usually play PvP, and am just now starting to do raids, which i like, but there is also a certain skill level involved when playing PvP. Sadly, my idea would never work unless they find a way to allow the better PvP players to have a better chance at getting the better drops, instead of it being random. Bad players should not get rewarded better than their teammates that scored higher than them. They REALLY need to find a way to reward the top 3 players on a team better. I've came in first a few times in a row, and ended up getting nothing, while the guy who comes in 2nd to last gets an exotic weapon or something along those lines.

  • Your solution is something just as stupid as Bungie's systems for DLCs. If they used your system then Crotas End will become obsolete and eventually the next raid will become obsolete as well. The way it should of bin handled is Bungie kept the Vendor gear at 29, Vault of glass - 30, Crotas end 32, House of wolves, 34, etc... So it a smooth and natural progression. These are the results of your system. VAULT OF GLASS (OBSOLETE), CROTAS END (OBSOLETE), House of wolves raid will become eventually become obsolete. So again this doesn't fix their original problem that they themselves said was a huge mistake. So take your terrible idiotic ideas elsewhere. Because they will only make this game worse.

  • How does 35 light armor make crotas end obsolete? This takes people up to 31 meaning they still have to do CE to get to 32. Granted VoG will be obsolete but that ship has already sailed lol. Now granted I do prefer your system as it does enable true progression but unfortunately its still very rng reliant which is what bungie wants to stray away from. As long they keep light level 1 under the previous max I'm okay with it. So in essence it should look like orginal/29<VoG, TDB/29<CE, HoW/31<arena

  • It will become obsolete once the next DLC comes out and the vendors will offer 32 gear. That's why his system doesn't work. The only way to do it is to establish steps to the progression of this game. Example STEP 1: get to level 20, STEP 2: Grind for vendor gear and get to level 29, STEP 3: VAULT OF GLASS, STEP 4: CROTAS END, STEP 5: HOUSE OF WOLVES RAID, etc... Of course for people that don't like raids they can progress through events like IRON BANNER and TRIALS OF OSIRIS.

Current light per vendor gear is 33, if it got moved to 35 when HoW drops it still only lets non raiders get to 31, thus CE isn't nullified Honestly they do need to up vendor gear as more dlc comes out, they just don't need to immediately nullify the previous raid. Think about it this way, You can only do raid once per week, you just get the game when HoW drops. This means you need to get to 20 (doable) get to 28/9 through vendors (doable) and then run VoG but oh no! you get gloves and boots for 3 weeks straight, after five weeks you are now 30 and can do CE, and the same shit happens again. now 10-11 weeks later you can FINALLY do the current content with just enough time for it to be replaced by the next dlc. For us who play as it comes its fine cuz we don't have anything better to do but for the newer players it can be difficult. I believe HoW vender gear should nullify VoG and Comet should nullify CE. But the problem was VoG was IMMEDIATLY nullified and that wasn't cool. The only reason why I'm slightly okay with it is because you needed a 31 swordbearer in order to beat crota at all.

  • Any raid will become obsolete in any method you have chosen. Basically you are using the better player progression model instead of the better gear progression model. An easy fix for that would be to make all raids the same level. Just UP them every time a new raid comes out. Or if you want the new raid to have priority, make it better than the previous but all previous are equal. When the following raid drops, then the new raid would be better and the previous one would fall equal to the others. You want people playing all of the raids jackass. Your point of view is clearly flawed. Come up with some legitimate rebuttles before you post. Otherwise you risk, as you did here, looking stupid!

  • There is a difference between making an activity obsolete and progressing further than a certain activity you idiot. Bungie's current system gives new players no reason to do VAULT OF GLASS because you can get better gear from vendors and its easier to do. It's obvious that every activity will eventually be left behind by the higher levels. I'm talking more about a new players progression. The way you want it new players can just buy the game and DLC and skip all the raids that we did before them the DLCs because they can just buy vendor gear that's better than the raid gear. My way ensures every raid will be part of the progression system in the game and not left behind due to vendors offering an easier and faster way to level past that content. I'm not the one looking stupid you are. Bungie themselves have said that making an activity as important as a raid obsolete (NOT OUTLEVELED), but obsolete was a mistake.

  • So just up the levels of the raids! Much simpler!

  • Who wants to re-do the same raids over and over again to get the same gear? That's stupid... How about we just create a solid progression system which this game lacks and every other game like this has.

  • Frankly, I find Crota easier than the VOG...... and I, as well as almost all of my friends enjoy the VOG significantly more than CE. I think for most gamers, not the people who have played 600+ hours (650+ for you), the game remains enjoyable in all facets. The hardcore gamers who have specialized setups, so they can eat, drink, and sleep gaming, are going to get bored no matter what. You account for maybe 10% of the community. I might even fall into that group, but the majority will take months to get to 400 hours let alone 700. You are complaining from your point of view. They are looking at this from the entire communities view. Unfortunately the people who burn themselves out are the ones on this forum and thus complaining. Go outside! Get laid!

I need to post this for the sake of posting this. I just compared my playtime to yours. To be clear, I play EVERY -blam!-ING DAY!!! I have a little over 14 days of play time. I play EVERY -blam!-ING DAY! You have DOUBLE THAT!!!! You have clearly outplayed the intended playtime for a game at this point in its release. Of course you are frustrated about content and grinding. You are doing way too -blam!-ing much grinding. Please get a -blam!-ing LIFE!!!!!! RussianR00ster 27+ days of playtime!!!!! WTF
