Motes of Awesome: Upgrading Legendaries

Cool idea, bro, I'm all for it.

I'm with you, just not a fan of using motes.

No, things are perfect the way they are.

We should be able to use motes of light to upgrade our legendary gear to the latest attack rating/light level. Especially raid gear. Sure, you can buy some of the faction gear at a higher level now, but not all of the weapons are available for purchase, so if you have a really nice Purifier not only do you have to luck out on getting another one at random, you also have to hope that you don't get stuck with a crap role, like vacuum. As for the Crucible and Vanguard weapons, those factions are not selling reskinned versions of their old guns. Just ask anyone who likes Devil You Know what they think of Devil You Don't. So, why use motes of light as an upgrade currency? It makes sense with the context of the lore: Our high level gear (at least armor, not quite sure about weapons) already contains "light;" it's supposedly what makes that new raid gear stronger than, say, Vanguard gear or that blue chest piece you've gotten 30 times from a ROC strike. Motes of light are an existing currency: If there's one thing Destiny doesn't need, its another currency for us to waste time grinding. We already use them to buy engrams and class items, so there's already a basis to use them for buying things in game. It solves the "everyone looks the same problem": Right now, the only degree of individuality you can effectively have as a high level player is what exotic you use, and what shader you use, and lots of people are dissatisfied by this. Some propose a transmogrification system, I propose making our legendaries upgradable. Technically, motes of light are already an upgrade currency: Seeing as how motes of light are often the only reward from the daily public event package, which supposedly only rewards upgrade materials, that suggests motes are an upgrade currency. Just another reason they're a great candidate for upgrading our gear. Now, about pricing. Seeing as how an exotic engram costs 25 motes, I would suggest that an upgrade should be significantly lower than this, say in the 15-20 range, perhaps with a regular legendary at 15 and raid gear at 20, as it would be silly for a legendary to be valued higher than an exotic, and like I said before there's already enough pointless grinding in Destiny. So, what do you think?
