Destiny Strikes are full of inactive players

Can you guys add a "Player Inactivity Boot" or "Vote Kick" mechanic in Strikes? I'm tired of that one person who just sits down while the rest of the team has to do extra work. I swear I keep getting them. One time one of them got a legendary engram! He was just sitting in a pipe at the boss the entire time! I think a votekick system or a penalty for having less than 20 kills or even giving/taking damage to the boss. I just want to play Destiny in a team that's not gonna hide and sit there lazy *** down the entire game. I understand if you have to use the restroom or something, but there should be an inactivity timer before you can kick them. Let the people who want to actually play, play.

  • Had a situation myself last week when I ran a Heroic with someone on my Friends List. Both he and I were laying waste to everything while a friend of his (who joined us) sat back complaining about swapping weapons and loading up blah blah blah. I could hear him talk via my TV but as I didn't have my headset plugged in I couldn't say anything to him (and no time to type a message). My friend and I did the Strike but this dribble did absolutely nothing but walk behind us crapping on about loading stuff blah blah blah. I knew if I kicked him he would rejoin. Result - I'm not keen to play with my friend (who this guy came in with) again. I would like to see a name and shame forum but this would be abused too much.

  • There does seem to be an uptick. I've had more AFKers the past two weeks than ever before since September. I report them and notice most stay at starting point and randomly jump. I can't believe Bungie doesn't implement an auto kick by monitoring stats. If a player doesn't reach a respawn restriction zone and isn't fighting or killing majors or ultras and they don't attack the final boss or its minions, they get booted with no rewards and temporarily banned from ALL matchmaking games (PvE & PvP). 1st Offense = 1 day lockout on account for ALL matchmaking 2nd Offense = 3 day lockout on account for ALL matchmaking 3rd Offense = 10 day lockout on account for ALL matchmaking 4th Offense = Account banned, petition and detailed explanation can be submitted for review when Bungie has free time to take a look. Doing a similar thing for PvP games too. If you want to waste your time do it in Patrol morons.

    • When your loot system is so shitty, people will exploit it.

      • Actually, I've been kicked to orbit a couple times due to inactivity, probably because I went to go do some stuff and forgot that I had matchmaking on. So there is a timer for inactivity. But that's only at the beginning of the strike. When we spawn. I don't think there's any inactivity kick when a player goes afk in the middle of a game. I totally understand the frustration by the way. It's bad enough that they were afk the whole game and gets the best loot. They also took up the one/two extra spots for our own friends to join in the fireteam. Totally rooting for the option to (automatically) kick player back to orbit when they don't past the 2nd/3rd checkpoint in the strike since they joined. And also make it impossible for players to randomly join at the boss stage of the strike UNLESS the player JOINS the fireteam of one of the players in the game.

      • The fix IMO is to let me go solo. I can do all the strikes by myself. Why can't I set matchmaking off and jump in alone and maybe just invite friends? They don't seem to mind people doing parts of the raid solo.

      • I hate when people do nothing or quit. BUT if I've done the same strike three times in a row, I'm quitting AND I am not sorry. Happened with phogoth, and the valus strike on mars. It gets annoying

        • Went on a strike today and had the two other members leave at the 1/3 mark at the same time. I continued on by myself. Oh well. To me not worth the effort.

        • On the bounty for Toland's legacy (again) and I've ran 21 of my 25 so far this week - usually 3-5 at a time. So far, I have had people quit strike they don't like, I have had puerile die around every corner, but I have yet to see one person afk. Last night I was running omnigul, balls deep in the action, killing everything. When we got to omnigul my 3 month old started fussing so I set my controller down for a minute to pick her up and get her calm. Got a message and checked it when I picked my controller back up. The guy I was running with was slapping my hunter over and over with his warlock. The message read "reported for afk you F!ing scrub!" I ignored it, ran in to have omnigul, revived him many times during the fight - pretty much did all the work as he would just go after adds, die, repeat. I've seen threads like this time and time again and I can say, in the Hundreds, possibly thousand+ strikes I have done on this game, I have only ever encountered a couple people afk the entire strike, so I'm gonna post what I always post: "Carry them! Learn to solo the strike! These strikes only take 10 minutes or less! If it really makes you unhappy, block the person and you won't get teamed with them again! If it's work than put your controller down and go do something fun - this is a game, it's not suppose to be work! Stop bitching about stupid shit that isn't anywhere near as big a problem as you winers make it out to be! There are way more important things that we would like to see in this game than a few people getting punished because real live happens! Worse case scenario - quit the strike and you've only wasted 5 minutes of your time!" Real life > Destiny ↑ how do you really know the person does this all the time or are sure he is just afk'ing strikes for loot?

          • Why should they play. Rewards are the same no matter if you play or not, and seems you have a higher chance of getting an exotic by not playing, or generally sucking.

          • This has happened to me twice. I just report them, and leave the strike, even if it means wasted time. And the punks are not technically inactive. They will literally move around periodically, just to not get booted due to inactivity. I understand the way the loot system works, but it should have some sort of activity check in place., to insure that you are at least participating. And said check, should account for people that may be queued in at the last portion of a strike (Like if you get put in a strike that is already at the final boss - you should still be eligible for the rewards.).

          • The strikes should be zoned, if a player is not at the final zone they forfeit all rewards. If they are in the zone and they get no kills, no assists, and no revives, they get no rewards. It's not hard to get any of these. Maybe it could be tied to percentage of activity. Either way, whatever the solution would be, people will find a way to exploit it......always.

          • Issue is that any vote to kick system would get abused too easily. What's stopping two buddies from entering a strike with a random, then waiting until the final boss is nearly dead and then kicking him for sh*ts and gigs?

            • At the spawn I hop on my sparrow and blast forward about a hundred feet. If there's an inactive player I kill them with my sparrow and go back to orbit. I rather enjoy killing the lazy bastards. It makes the strike without dying bounty a little tougher for them :)

              • Sometimes when I play strikes I get the same strike 3 times in a row. For this reason I can understand why someone might leave. One thing that can be annoying is when they do nothing and you do all the work and they get the best rewards. On the other hand I'm not bothered because it's only and strike and I don't need help.

                • What we really need is the option to do the strike playlist without matchmaking. Solve this problem real quick.

The game really needs to award the player with the most kills(most participation), easy fix, makes us fight for it

                    • Inactive players are now rare. How about a thing where if they are AFK for 1 or 2 minutes they get a reward meter that goes down if they don't move into the next area they are moved.
