Hello all,
We have been investigating the issue where Xbox One players experience a re-download of a 76mb update every time they play Destiny. We have a few troubleshooting options that we highly recommend players attempt in the order we present them:
Check your internet connection
Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If you are on WiFi or mobile hotspots, we recommend using a wired connection to complete your installation, as sometimes this update is due to the connection failing or hiccuping during the update.
Clear your cache
Clearing the console's cache has been the most successful way of getting out of this state. Please see below for more information as there are two ways to clear the cache on your console. Once it is cleared it will resume your update.
-Launch Destiny on your console (Do not press A to play)
-At the sign on screen (the screen that prompts you “Press A To Play”) press and hold the following buttons for ~10 seconds, or until the game launches : Right Bumper (RB) + Left Bumper (LB) + down on the dpad
-PLEASE NOTE: This button command should only be used on the “Press A To Play” screen
OR
-Completely shut your console off
-Go to Settings
-Go to Power & startup
-Press Turn Xbox off
-Once the console is completely off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes
-Power the console on and re-launch Destiny
Re-launching the game after playing a different game
This issue could also be caused by game installs overlapping each other on your hard drive. Sometimes this can be sorted by simply closing Destiny and launch a recently played game (that is NOT Destiny). Please follow the steps below:
1. Launch Destiny
2. Close Destiny
3. Launch recently played/downloaded game
4. Play for a bit (20-30 minutes is recommended)
5. Close recently played/downloaded game
6. Launch Destiny
At this point, the update will pop up and follow through, and the issue should resolve.
Players who own the disc copy of Destiny have reported that their issue resolved after borrowing a friend's disc and attempting the update, or cleaning the disc. We realize this issue can occur with digital copies, and this solution may not be ideal.
We are aware that these steps may not resolve this issue, and if none of these steps help then re-installing the game may work. Your progress and characters are saved server-side on your account, so you do not need to worry about losing progress if you uninstall. Please know that Bungie is investigating a report on people who cannot resolve this issue with the steps provided. We thank you for your patience as we investigate.

3 RepliesDear Bungie, I do hope this comment is read and noted. I have been a dedicated player for a long time, I was an original beta player who sat through the frivolously toil of 8 levels and was promised my toon would be kept. (I was not surprised when that promise was broken seeing as you gave people exotics in the beta.) Beyond that I'm here to discuss the morally ground shattering error code known as "WASP". Now through out the 4 months of game play of late I never even had to deal with this error code. I heard of its ground shattering ability to force players to uninstall and reinstall then entire 20gb of data which renders destiny even possible, However in the last 2 weeks it has come to my attention that this bug can be a large nuisance. My concern came from the idea in my mind that I have done nothing wrong, not changed my internet such as keeping it constantly hard wired, and avoiding all possible flaws in installs for destiny. Yet the bug persists...and not only the bug...but incestuous nature of the installs themselves. By this i mean they occur entirely at random... for example last night I proceeded in the ritualistic wait for XUR, a fellow friend in destiny who never yields anything truly random anymore (considering he has had the same MK StandAsides for titans 3 no...4 weeks in a row?) However when I clicked destiny it put me to an install screen...all went well. It installed no problem, upon the realization i signed in a bit to early i simply closed destiny and waited for it to be 3am my time. When i went to sign in again it prompted me again for an update? odd...same update every time, I might add first 800kb, then 1.52mb, then 75.56mb? (just going off memory since I've seen this screen so many times....) I ignored the odd update that was given 5 minutes back to back...then i looked at XUR's broken random item generation, and decided it was time to sleep. I woke up today with hopes of idle fun, pulling some friends through the HM of Crota, which i have beaten a couple of times. STOP!!!! What is this? Another update? its only been a couple of hours since I've updated twice...3 times in 12 hours? (I ignored it of course..) then it happened once more like it did a week ago BAM ERROR CODE "WASP". This has brought me here finally....I've never had reason to complain not till now, about a serious issue. Not the idle threat of people not having heavy ammo simply because they can't go find a weapon that spawns more heavy drops, or exotic armor. No I'am here about an issue that feverishly bangs the interior of my xbox screaming its way into my head, that I will never play destiny again...not until I either uninstall it 100 times over and reinstall it 200 times over. Or i just try to fight through the error screen 700, 1000, maybe 1500 times....I have tried all the solutions...they always falter. I guess I'm trying to say please address this issue if you wish for a dedicated player to actually continue playing this game...because I'am not here to waste my time on a loading screen, I'am here to play what i thought was Destiny. Sincerely, Dillon Wheetley P.S. Try not to ignore this will you?
