A lot of you seem to be missing the point. Christianity is a cult.
No, it's not. Or else it would be named accordingly. It's missing some key elements to be called a cult.
How does one acquire followers for a cult? Offer incentives. Do you know how convenient it is that every Christian is guaranteed a pass to Heaven?
Again, this is false. Heaven may be an incentive to some, but if it were truly the only reason, people would not waste their whole lives devoted to it, rather, they'd either claim the title but never remain involved in the religion, or they would simply commit right before their death.
It is simply a tactic to grab weak minded followers who will then spread the word of their savior.
Except we're not all weak minded idiots like you would like to think us as. You say it's a crutch, but it really isn't. I don't worship a god because I'm in bad times and need help. Nor do I worship a god so I can feel like I'll be ok if there happens to be an afterlife. I worship because it's what I believe to be the creator of the universe, and so feel obligated to do as much, and because I'm commanded to worship.
The Church works like this:
> Promise eternal bliss
> Make sure there is no effort involved
>???
> Acquire Profit
Again, wrong. Yes, eternal life is promised, but your first and second point are where it would appear your statement and reasoning about it being a cult is false.
1.) If it were truly a cult that works by the promise of eternal life, why then do some Christians teach you can lose your eternal salvation? Wouldn't that break the promise?
2.) If it were true that, by your reasoning of Christianity being a cult, that you don't have to work to make it seem appeasing, why then do some Christians teach you must work your way into Heaven?
I respect your views and opinions, and your right to voice them, and am in no way looking to shut you up or disrespect your views, but I also respectively disagree with them.

Typical Christian comment :/
-
Because I defended my religion?
-
-
What else would I do? Stand there and let someone bash my God?
-
Well yes. I mean he's not your God. So why defend him? He can defend himself. It's just a fu.cking opinion :/
-
Until Jesus returns, we(Christians) are the image and voice of Christ. And Jesus is God. That is why we are commanded to be Christ-like, because we represent him. So, it is up to is to defend.
-
Your post literally made me sick.
-
How is that?
-
With your retarded brainwashed religious bullshit.
-
retarded,
Your opinion, nothing more.
brainwashed,
I'm pretty open minded. I've looked into my religion. I'm far from brainwashed.
religious,
No shit.
bullshit.
Again, your opinion. Opinion isn't fact, therefore what you say is for the most part irrelevant, and what basic relevancy I would give to what you say is now gone. You've lost my respect for me to care about your opinion or views any longer.
-
Everything you just said is wrong.
-
Now I realize you're just trolling. GG
-
I'm not. I'm genuinely an anti-theist :/
-
Why? Why be against someone's right to believe in a deity? I'm not anti-atheist. I love that you and I can disagree, and I 100% support your right to believe what you want. However, I draw the line at "anti-'x'". To say your anti-theist/religion is to admit your anti-freedom. American-speaking, your anti-Constitutional. An enemy of freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
-
Because religion's stupid.
-
So what? That's just your opinion. Your right to it. If you would be against my right to believe in a god, should I be against your right to think something is "stupid" because it's my opinion that your opinion is stupid?
-
It's not opinion, it's fact.
-
No, it's opinion.
-
Keep telling yourself that. At least scientology has the balls to go all out retarded.
-
There's no point in arguing if you're going to be ignorant. God help you.
-
Say anything as intolerant as God help you again and I'm going to punch you in the face :/
-
Lol how would you punch me? Anyways, you're being an ignorant, intolerant asshole. You don't know anything about what you're arguing against. If you have some genuine questions, I'm a PM away.
-
No, you are. Us atheists don't need "God". So saying "God help you" to an atheist is incredibly offensive and intolerant, so don't do it, and evolution's a fact so...

Edited by RJ956: 1/22/2015 11:03:52 PMAnother flaw with Christianity, you cant even decide how to interpret the book you hold so dear. Some may teach it, but does that mean others think it is true? Working into heaven can be done by donating to the church. That is just so hard isn't it. Has happened all through out history.
-
I can decide. I take if word for word. What I read, I believe. I don't twist it to be "well here's what it means when it says...".
