I have both. The Rapier is actually better. The auto fire on the VoC is nice but unneccessary. They have almost the same stats but the Rapier beats VoC in range and reload speed. Plus the Rapier from the Crucible vendor has armor piercing rounds and the perk that increases reload speed for critical kills.

 • And my voc always jams when firing in full auto :( I haven't got a decent 331 yet. Got a full stability up for anything with like 38 round clip that I've maxed for now. Hopefully I'll get nitc or something with firefly soon.

 • Dude does that happen to you too? I though it was my controller. Any single shot weapon I have with the full auto perk jams up every 2 or 3 reloads. I though I was the only one lol.

 • Mine jams all the time. Bungie is probably giving us recycled casings. Here I was thinking it was my controller.

 • Haha for real. Maybe it's a special effect like the Thunderlord chain lightning. Except this special effect sucks ass. Check out this scout bro, it's got realistic weapon jamming action! Bungie did it right on this one.

 • But unlike all of the scout rifle you listed VoC is the only one with a solar burn on it. Instantly the best scout you can have right now.

 • True enough. But the element of the weapon has no effect on damage output unless you're shooting a shield of the same element or using it in a nightfall with the same burn. I would definitely use the VoC in a solar burn nightfall but outside of that there are better choices. Especially considering the other options max out at 331 not 300.

 • Unless you are running the CE raid then all of the enemies in the game are level 30 at most and VoC is a level 30 weapon. You don't need anything else, and unless I am given a scout rifle I will not buy one because right now I use Fatebringer in the lantern section and switch to Thorn (A 331 hand cannon) for the rest of the raid. Most scouts have to slow of a rof to make them useful with that many enemies swarming you. So the other option are really useless at this point in the game other than to make you grind out more bounties and mats to upgrade them.

 • My Rapier is basically a 331 Fatebringer minus the arc damage. It has almost the exact same perks (crit reload, firefly, etc.). So I use it a lot in PvE. Although I will admit the Fatebringer and Icebreaker are my go - to lamp phase weapons. But I believe we have reached an impasse. We'll have to agree to disagree haha.

 • It comes down to a matter of play style. I used to be all about scout rifles, and even though I don't use them as much I am still deadly at range with them. I got a decent rare HC, then Fatebringer, then Thorn and now I prefer hand cannons. Scout are situational for me. I have three badger ccl's with different perks on all of them that were vanguard drops. They are all maxed but rarely get used.

 • Oh don't get me wrong I'm still using the Fatebringer pretty heavily. I'll use Fatebringer until it stops being a viable option. And that won't happen until the Vanguard strikes are over lvl 30.

 • Maybe in march with the HoW's we will get a level 30 strike list.

 • It'll be at least 28 for sure. I just don't want my favorite guns to become irrelevant too soon lol.
