In response to trading will break the game, I believe you are partially correct. You referenced Diablo III and the Auction House. The entire reason the Auction House was removed was because it completely and unequivocally broke Diablo. There is little to no argument for this. Destiny has been created on a very fragile economy, one with a strict cap level on currencies. They have done this to prevent the type of black market that appears in other similar games. This game from the start has been all about the stories in which you can tell others on how you came across this weapon or that armor (even though, most people's stories were "I bought it from Xur" lol). To have someone stockpile 2 of everything, and give them all to a friend would, in Bungie's eyes, be doing that player a disservice. I personally like the caps they have in place, and while I get very frustrated with the RNG (I once had 5 strange coins on the Nightfall, if you have had worse loot than that in a Nightfall, then you can bitch), I still have managed to obtain nearly all the exotic weapons, and armor for my character through grinding and general game play, and I will tell you getting that exotic to appear at the summary screen is awesome each and every time, even if I already have it.

How would it break the game?
-
It will break the game because people automatically assume that if trading was implement (which won't for technical and financial reasons), everyone would be able to exchange exotics and raid drops, which is far from true on plenty of multiplayers.
Meanwhile, we have shaders, emblems, mats, and people requesting for transmogrification. Transmogrification + a trading system would be pretty sweet.
Say you have 2 Icebreakers and your friend has two gallys. If you can just trade each other, there would be no motivation to play/grind for that "lucky" drop.

Edited by ExistingGold: 1/12/2015 8:37:26 PM..And? What if you wanna use it for the raid? Its not your place to judge how people play. And trading could be easily limited, to not being able to trade Exotics. And even if people trade raid gear, it doesnt matter because The Crucible does balance things, so everyone pretty much has the same strength in terms of armor to equal it out. And besides, what if the person doesnt like grinding, and simply wants to jump in and play with their friends,my friend just got Destiny 2 weeks ago and I'm STILL waiting for him to catch up with me so we can play together, grinding may increase the play time, but play time does not mean fun...unless you're Bungie, and if you like grinding, than grind, but you should also cater to the people who just wanna have some fun playing with their friends already.

The game is more than just the crucible. Lets not kid ourselves, people want to trade exotics, not legendaries or blues. This is a grinding game and if you think otherwise, you are kidding yourself. Raid gear is EARNED by playing the raid (random drop or not, cheesing or not), it is special and should (and will) remain so. There will NEVER be trading in this game.

And, if you do enjoy grinding, than just dont trade, it IS an optional feature. And really, you cannot call RNG "earning" seeing as how, even if you were to do something hundreds of times, you'd still have a chance of not getting anything of use. If they wanted to make a fun, non-frustrating grind-style game, they should've made an actual BALANCED reward system. At release, we were given empty promises, the game is just barely improving. What Bungie and Activision are focusing on, is our play time, they want us to play for longer amounts of time, the game is designed to make you play for a long time...But what if we dont want too? To be honest, this games life span is running short, SO many other games are coming out in the next few years, that, really, I wont even adknowledge the case when I see AC Victory, or HALO 5 GUARDIANS, or Batman Arkham Knight, or, if possible, FAR CRY 5, I have no idea why Bungie thought this game would last 10 years, making us grind wont mean that we'll just ignore every other game because we're too busy with Destiny. Activision and Bungie took the worst approach if they wanted this game to last, to the point where theres just no point in arguing over it, seeing as how in afew months This game wont matter.

Dont like it, move on. I am not being rude, just saying. People always bring up how "great" games are coming out in the future and how Destiny will die a slow horrible death. I say, "Meh". There will always be people playing this game. People still pay Bad Company 2 or Far Cry 2. I am 100% sure this is your first loot based game. People play for days just for one lucky drop. Games like Diablo 3, Borderlands 2 etc etc know this formula. The fun is in the grind. If you dont find it fun move on. Destiny will only get better.

You do realize that you literally just referenced two games that both allow trading of all gear including legendary items? Neither of those games is broken, and you're praising them for being the same game type, so why would you think it makes no sense to allow trading in Destiny? I absolutely love that I can trade gear with others in both diablo and borderlands because the level system in both games makes it so that the players already have to meet certain requirements in order to equip them. That's the same with Destiny. You already have to be level 20 in order to equip any legendary/exotic/raid gear, so what does it matter if we trade so that our friends can fireteam with us in harder raids and events? Your argument circled around itself, and you literally just made your comment about trading breaking this game completely false, so why did you bother? Trading won't break this game. Bungie not putting out more content for this game will break this game. It's really that simple. I'm with ExistingGold on this one.

Hmm didnt know they allowed trading on console. I play on DIablo 3 on PC, so ever since the AH shut down there is no way to trade. ONly way to get new loot is to grind. Borderlands 2 trading is a joke and we know it. Everyone knows how to glitch the system by duping or gibbing.

Oh I like the game, I simply think that what Bungies idea of a "lasting" game was very flawed. This isnt my 1st loot based game, I find grinding partly fun, kind of, but when I get barely any reward, it gets kind of annoying, I dont really wanna have to pray to every known deity so I can get gear that I might actually want.
