http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2001/ast02aug_1/ You could always add this to the OP since it points out a vital flaw in your theory about there needing to be different gravity across all planets. If you actually read the whole thing or most of it, take note at the part about bone loss and a stay in different gravity than earth's for 3-6 months could take years to recover.

  • Thanks, but I think the fact the ghost can replicate your entire body to factor fresh every time you teleport, leave your ship, or go from planet to planet is a really fast way to recover from the diverse environments. so yes, reality changing to higher gravity worlds to lower gravity worlds is easy, coming back is painfully long and difficult, but ghosts can basically deconstruct you and reconstruct you like brand new....so recover is almost instantaneous...making your point moot...

  • Ghosts didn't exist until the end of the golden age (doesn't mean the travel didn't have or provide the technology to do the same thing, but they didn't ever state that it did so by your argument that "it's not explained" that would mean there's no room for that assumption) It does state however that the ghosts found among the dead "those who can wield it's light" ruling out that it could use this power on everyone.

  • lol, I meant for right now, its possible that the technology existed in the golden age, but even if it didn't it wouldn't matter in the long run, as they would eventually find a way to recover faster any way...

  • Still doesn't make sense. Humans naturally want to be comfortable, specially in a long term living situation. Gravity varying from earth's would not provide that, specially for the masses. So even though there are explorers that are more driven towards the new and unknown than comfort, it wouldn't be enough to colonize other planets. Not saying the story makes sense, but the little sense it does make only makes sense if the gravity on those colonies was altered.

  • or...they have cities with gravity plates like on the ships? besides, have you ever jumped on a trampoline? That shit is fun as hell....
