You were not banned fixin your headset. Bungie implements permanent bans only after checking the evidence, meaning you were most likely banned for something done earlier.
Per their ban policy, they will not discuss the ban with you:

Edited by MystikMC4TW: 1/2/2015 8:50:44 PMI literally did nothing, I know 100% of the people that read this won't believe this, but I'm telling you I didn't do anything bad. All I did was go through some quests, play multiplayer and finished some Bountys. If I knew that they're system was gonna be -blam!-ed up to the point of it randomly banning you, I would have never bought destiny to begin with.

One common reason for bans, lately, is connecting to Destiny on a modified console (I.e. Jailbroken PS3). I can't say if that is the reason for your ban or not, just offering one possible explanation.

I know several people have said that but I'm not using a jailbroken PS3. I'm just really pissed because I spent $60 on Destiny and I get banned halfway through the game for literally no reason.

I figured it out someome is sending there connection through yours so you get banned and they do not for having a modded console.
