One of my favorite youtubers made a video on how introducing trading in the upcoming DLC will benefit the game AND increase playtime for all players. I also think it should be added, if you agree bump this thread so Bungie and others can see this. I encourage you to watch the video as the guy brings a lot of good points(Do note that the video is 13 minutes long), and if you can, share it with others.
Thank you for your time.
Edit #1: I appreciate the mixed opinions on the topic, keep on leaving your thought and suggesting how it can be viable (Or why there shouldn't be trading).
Edit #2: Nice, this post is now trending. People have different feelings on the subject, but most of them have good points nonetheless!
Edit #3: Okay, after reading a lot of people's responses, here are some of the methods many agreed on when trading gets added (Keep in mind, not all of these should apply):
*) Allowing members in the Fireteam in a Raid/Nightfall to trade what RNG has given to them, at a fixed time limit (60 Minutes sounds fair), and once the trade time expires, they can no longer trade with each other.
*) Exchanging Materials (Marks, Commendations, Raid Materials), and ONLY the same sort of Materials (Like trading Hunter's Material for Warlock/Titan material only, no trading it towards Shards/Energies).
*) Player must be at least a level 28 in order to trade.
*) Add more content into the game to make free trading viable (In otherwords, an exotic for an exotic trade, Legendary for a Legendary trade).
*) Introducing a Clan Vault to allow players in the Clan to trade with each other. Some have suggested to have new members wait for 30 days before they can trade, the same if they leave and wish to join a different Clan (A total of a 60 days gap to discourage farmers to sell exotics).
We're getting there Guardians, keep on leaving ideas to make it happen!

Sure, if you want crying to increase 10 million times more than now go ahead and root for trading. Cheesing will become a banable offense and any gear worth buying will only be accessible by purchasing it for real money on a third party site. Sounds like bliss!!!
-
2 RepliesBeeds to have a tier system too so that you can only trade items in the same tier so ppl arent cheating it and trading a green sniper for the icebreaker
-
To be honest, I don't think the game has enough content to even support Trading, like people would instantly get what they want.
-
1 ReplyExotic weapon/armor for exotic weapon/armor trading I can endorse.
-
Only armor,weapons would be dumb
-
1 ReplyIt would be cool but lots of people will get exotics in cheap ways maybe something like you both have to trade exotics
-
I don't think there should be unless bungie removed getting duplicates
-
2 RepliesAnyone that has ever played a game with a trading system knows this, duplicated items will exist. Then people will lose their minds when they lose items because they didn't exist in the first place. They only solution to this would be allow you to share drops between fireteams during the course of a raid/strike mission.

Nah, I'd rather see so many other things than trading. We don't need Uber Elite Mega Experts walking around with 10 Gjallahorns talking about how unique they are because they have 10 of the same BAMF weapons.
-
I think they should have trading from time to time kinda like IB.... have it last fri sat sun once a month.... that way it can't get overly abused by account farmers.... but it would be a good way to help those that need it.... me and my core group enjoy betting as of right now our bets make the loser dismantle legendary engrams but this would be awesome for us in that aspect
-
2 RepliesShould work like a swap shop system exotic for exotic or legendary for legendary. This would avoid players paying crazy prices and other players from humping others.
-
Destiny doesn't need trading. Sure it would be nice to hand off shit you don't need to someone who does need it but the system would be abused, everything in any game is abused.
-
and if people are worry about giving people over power stuff why not make it so when you trade the items go back to its original form so people are force to grind to lv them up again and exotics are turn to original form where people have to upgrade them again. this way people will have to work to actually get the most out of their gear.
-
Yes a trading system is needed in destiny. Everyone else in the same clan as me get thorn bounties all the time and I get no exotics whatsoever.

Edited by HOLY REGIME: 1/2/2015 4:23:36 AMHe's as DRUNK as some of the people on these forums. So in theory, to increase time played Bungie should allow players easier ways to obtain weapons and gear... Hmm that makes perfect sense. You want that Gjallarhorn billy? Here il give it to you instead of making you grind for it and you will play destiny more, is that correct! NO YOU DRUNK BASTARD. Let me make this real simple for you. Trading = cheesing. Cheesing crota allows for scrubs players to get good armor even though they do little work for it. Having trading allows all weapons to be valuable for the right person. Gjallarhorn is no longer rare and everybody everywhere looks the exact same. Who's good who's not. WHEN HARD RAID COMES OUT THE CREAM WILL RISE. We will see who has the skill but if we had trading there's no way to tell. Yes it lets good players get armor if they were unlucky but also lets in bad players do the same. Sorry for making this long I'm just tired of seeing posts and videos demanding trades. I think those people are just narrow minded and can only see how it benefits them getting armor easier.

1 ReplyNo. Again.
-
For all of the comments. YES. Trading COULD have been a good thing. In my personal view, Bungie needed to have had a surplus of weapons and armor for start. They only have 3 factions, vanguard, crucible and then Raid(s). If the weapons and gear were significantly increased then, and only then would trading be okay. As of right now, Xür sells the same thing for EVERYONE. Which means, not only do we get the same guns, it's one less gun we have to receive from RNGESUS. Had there been a greater amount of weapons and armor, we would indeed need a trading system. I mean...to sum this up...Bungie has the setting of the game, the whole world and than some. I'm sure they could of made a longer story and more add ons. Therefore, we should not implicate any trading at this current period in time.

I think that good trading would work like this: exotic weapons/armor can be traded for new raid weapons/armor and other exotics. Normal legendary weapons can be traded for other legendary weapons, but not armor. Legendary armor can be traded for other pieces of legendary armor, but not weapons. I think you get my point. Please provide constructive criticism for this system.
-
Ya let's add trading and bring in all the gold farmers.
-
12 RepliesWhy are people still asking for trading when Bungie stated they didn't want trading in Destiny. No matter the system, players go as far as kicking you when you wear vanguard gear don't you think they'll kick when they learn you traded for your shiny new Ghorn. People complain there isn't enough content in the game yet they ask for trading... I certainly wouldn't want any form of trading, i don't think it would benefit anything to the game.

Christmas noob anyone?
-
No. Just no. It would break everything.

-
If Xur didn't exist I think trading would be awesome to trade exotics only. But he does exist, thus trading is useless.
-
Nope do not want . Don't need hackers ruining the game .
