Not to say that it isn't, or that it even is for that matter. I recently got Thunderlord out of a legendary engram (lucky me).I generally see a lot of negativity around SGA and good things about TL. I haven't unlocked its signature perk yet, so it's not at its full potential and i'm not in a position to properly compare the two.

However, with it's perks it eliminates the concept of this gun firing "slow". The first effect upgrade is feeding frenzy where kills grant faster reload speed. Almost immediately this is a good start for Machine Gun because of their notoriously slow reload. It's second effect upgrade is Lightning Rounds. This is the center piece of the gun because not only does it fire faster when you hold constant fire, it also becomes more accurate. Finally the middle three upgrades effectively benefit this gun. If you're using Perfect Balance, stability is increased so much that accuracy is achieved quickly when coupled with Lightning Rounds. Field Scout gives more ammo, more ammo = more shots fired = more effective Lightning Rounds. Flared Magwell destroys the whole idea of waiting for your Thunderlord to reload, faster reload prepares ammo faster which can be used earlier achieving Lightning Rounds immediately. Super Good Advice: Low impact but high fire rate. This also means relatively low range and low stability. First effect is Crowd Control, which is arguably the best upgrade for machine guns. It allows you to gain more damage every time you kill with this weapon. Second effect is Super Good Advice, which can bring missed ammo right back to the magazine. Note it will bring some back, not all of them. Overall the real reason why this gun doesn't perform as well as it should is that the middle column effects don't compliment it's abilities as well as Thunderlord does. The first of these effects is Single Point Sling. This makes aiming faster, especially when using heavy weapons. However, the differences between having it and not having it is pretty insignificant because aiming is already pretty fast in itself. The next effect is Hand Loaded, increase range. While this negates some of it's accuracy issues. It's not enough to overcome them because of it's terrible stability. Finally, like Thunderlord, it gets Flared Magwell. However, unlike Thunderlord, Super Good Advice has notoriously slow reload. To put it into perspective, when both weapons reload without Flared Magwell, Thunderlord reloads twice as fast as SGA.

i use SGA for a reason it is my only exotic for now. it works good for me

1 ReplyGot my Thunderlord the same way today. It's at 334 damage, looks good so far. I have Super Good Advice and I am telling you, it is STUPID comparing them.... SGA = 3/10 (just for oracles and over soul) Thunderlord = 8/10. Lightning Rounds Vs. SGA. I dismantled my SGA for an exotic shard which I have saved to max out my Thunderlord... ironic isn't it. TL;DR = Thunderlord wins by a landslide.

The only time SGA stands out among other high rate of fire MGs is during oracles. Besides that its a waste of both a heavy and exotic slot in both PvP and PvE. I might be a little biased tho

Lightning Rounds.

3 RepliesI still use super good advice, it's perk which causes some bullets that miss targets to return to the magazine make it great for both raids. If you get teleported, SGA easily destroys oracles and as they don't register as targets you never have to reload. This works the same as the oversoul, it doesn't count as a target so you can just continuously shoot it until it's destroyed.

The thunderlord is a joke but I think it wins the apparel contest.

Because it shoots straight.

Plus, Thunderlord -blam!-s on arc burn. IMO generally your best use of an exotic slot with arc burn, whereas with solar burn you have several better options than SGA, like Icebreaker, Vex Mythoclast, or gally. The only exception being Patience and Time in some situations.

With the signature perk and field scout, it does full damage while firing rapidly.
