[BUNGIE] Solutions for Xbox One Re-downloading Update

[b][UPDATE 2/25/15] The 1.1.1 Update contains a fix for this issue. If you have not installed this update, please exit Destiny and re-launch to take the patch. If you are still encountering this issue after updating Destiny and following the troubleshooting guide, please let us know.[/b] [b][u]PLEASE NOTE:[/u] This post is ONLY for the Redownloading issue. Please do not post offtopic as it pushes down posts of people who are still experiencing this problem; players that do this will be removed from the thread.[/b] Hello all, We have been investigating the issue where Xbox One players experience a re-download of a 76mb update every time they play Destiny. We have a few troubleshooting options that [b]we highly recommend players attempt in the order we present them[/b]: [b]Check your internet connection[/b] Are you on a wired or wireless connection? If you are on WiFi or mobile hotspots, we recommend using a wired connection to complete your installation, as sometimes this update is due to the connection failing or hiccuping during the update. [b]Clear your cache[/b] Clearing the console's cache has been the most successful way of getting out of this state. Please see below for more information as there are [b]two ways[/b] to clear the cache on your console. Once it is cleared it will resume your update. -Launch Destiny on your console (Do not press A to play) -At the sign on screen (the screen that prompts you “Press A To Play”) press and hold the following buttons for ~10 seconds, or until the game launches : Right Bumper (RB) + Left Bumper (LB) + down on the dpad -[b]PLEASE NOTE:[/b] This button command should only be used on the “Press A To Play” screen OR -Completely shut your console off -Go to Settings -Go to Power & startup -Press Turn Xbox off -Once the console is completely off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes -Power the console on and re-launch Destiny [b]Re-launching the game after playing a different game[/b] This issue could also be caused by game installs overlapping each other on your hard drive. Sometimes this can be sorted by simply closing Destiny and launch a recently played game (that is NOT Destiny). Please follow the steps below: 1. Launch Destiny 2. Close Destiny 3. Launch recently played/downloaded game 4. Play for a bit (20-30 minutes is recommended) 5. Close recently played/downloaded game 6. Launch Destiny At this point, the update will pop up and follow through, and the issue should resolve. Players who own the disc copy of Destiny have reported that their issue resolved after borrowing a friend's disc and attempting the update, or cleaning the disc. We realize this issue can occur with digital copies, and this solution may not be ideal. [b]We are aware that these steps may not resolve this issue, and if none of these steps help then re-installing the game may work.[/b] Your progress and characters are saved server-side on your account, so you do not need to worry about losing progress if you uninstall. Please know that Bungie is investigating a report on people who cannot resolve this issue with the steps provided. We thank you for your patience as we investigate.

  • None of these methods are working... I even called Xbox and got a new Xbox One in replace of my old one thinking that it would help it out, and it doesn't. I'm very mad about this because Destiny is my top played game and I'm starting to get irraited that I can't play it. It's been 2 weeks.... Are you guys even working on this.... I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times now. Please Please fix this issue....

  • So I get home tonight and turn on Destiny and this damn wasp error code keeps popping up every time I try to do the update... I've troubleshooted everything for it and it's still not working and I'm getting really irritated that it's not working....

  • Let me first say that you guys have created a great game. The only problem is is that I am not able to play it. This WASP error code has become quite irritating for a lot of members of the community. Personally, I have had to delete and re-download the game twice in as many weeks and I have only owned the game for a month. It seems a little ridiculous that when someone wants to play the game they have to spend 2+ hours re-download it. No one has time for that. This is affecting a lot of people and although you are "investigating" the issue, it has been over one month with no updates. Very disappointing

  • Is anyone at Bungie working on this problem? I have tried all the "solutions" and still am getting this download, sometime two or three times a day. Now the Wasp error has started. Come on Bungie this is ridiculous. The game is unplayable...

  • I have done all these suggestions and still nothing works, I have re-installed the game 5 times now and even the update that it prompts one to do. And like always I am given the 76.87 MB download......sometimes 832.0 and other times 1.76 or something around there. But it always goes back to the 76.87 MB in progress, the furthest my download will go is to 91% complete then I am booted out with the Attention error screen. I love this game and would like to continue to play it but it has been 4 days now and still nothing. From earlier post im seeing that some people haven't been able to play the game for weeks. Before the complete lose of playing that game this Wasp Error would pop up off and on and I still would be able t play the game. Now I cant play the game. These suggestions don't work PLEASE FIX THIS CRAP SO WE CAN GET BACK TO OUR GAME PLEASE......

  • Hi Bungie As mentioned in previous comments by other concerned players, i have tried all the steps suggested to me, by yourselfs and other members to resolve the constant error code of Wasp on my Xbox One, but none of these methods have worked at all!   • Hi, I've been having error code WASP for about a week and previously for a whole month and a half, I've tried buying a $50 Ethernet cable for wired connection, restarting Destiny, starting a hotspot from my phone,unplugging Xbox and router multiple times and even going to another game for a bit just to come back every time to see a nice little 76 mb update and later down the road, "An error occurred during installation. Please try again. For more I formation visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: wasp . And I've seen at least 40+ posts with nice suggestions trying to help but none of the above listed work. Again I really love this da** game but I really want to see this fixed Xbox one xT HoriiZon Tx Wired and non wired

  • This worked for me and another member who tried it. The only that enabled me to download the update without getting stung by the 'wasp' was to set up a personal hotspot on my phone. It worked first time. Funny though because my NAT type on home wifi is open and on my personal hotspot the NAT type is strict. Very odd but it worked for me. Ive just logged on after getting back from work and it hasnt tried to download the recurring update. Hope this helps you guys.

  • Guys! A user here ( named c1trusfru1t ) gave a suggestion of using a personal hotspot (like on a cell phone) to download the update. I tried it and It works! Those having the issue should know this suggestion.

    • This just started happening to me last night. Got kicked to orbit a few minutes before finishing the Weekly Heroic on 30. And then it was install update and then the Wasp error every time, so I cannot even finish the update and play. It has been over 24 hours like this. I tried your suggestions and nothing worked. I do not get it. So frustrated and the thing of it is we will not get compensated for the missed opportunities like the strange coins for the Weekly Heroic, missing out on Xur, etc. I've put up with getting kicked to orbit all these months but this issue really really blows.

      • So is anything being done about this. I see its been a month said you said anything about and all these people including me still dealing with this shit. How is this even possible. Just an update on the situation would be better than the prior ways you've handle this, I feel bad for the people that have had to deal with this for weeks.

      • GT is Pvt Krazy I am also on WiFi I have been getting the recurring update for a few weeks now and have finally hit the wasp bug. I tried the steps above and they have not been successful for me. Coincidentally, a few of my friends also just got wasped, though I'm sure you're seeing the sudden spike in this error if it is getting widespread. I hope ya'll are able to knock this one out quick as we all enjoy playing your game and are heartbroken to be denied a chance to play. While some seem to wish to spam hate about what they feel owed, my friends and I merely ask that you give this bug a high priority though this is no doubt a tough bug to fix without invalidating legitimate updates. Good luck, and please get us back in the fight soon.
