It takes about a days worth of bounties to rank up a faction outside of the vanguard and crucible. The probability of getting a shader should be low, to make it more of a rarity imo. This game would be getting half of the attention it is getting, if they made every item purchasable.
So, who doesn't run the nightfall every Tuesday for the bonus?
If you do then you would know that this is how you can gain a rank to your faction every day.
*Complete all of your bounties.
*Win control matches
*Do patrol missions
-Kill the target, patrol missions give you 33xp. That's 100xp every three for the math experts.
*Vanguard Strike playlist.
In order to complete all of your daily bounties, you will do most of what I just listed. This rest is left for you to figure out. Thank you for trying to point out a negative aspect of my comment. You and apparently a few other people, have a pretty narrow mind when it comes to problem solving.

Speaking of Nightfalls, what's Omnigul like this week? Easy? Hard? Will my Ice Breaker or Jellyhorn be doing all of the work?

Edited by The Mannikin: 12/22/2014 8:48:26 PMIt does not take a days worth of bounties. That's just straight up false, 2400 rep. Bounties(crucible and vanguard) give u 1200 rep MAX (that's if each bounty is worth 100 rep which is NEVER the case) . Takes and least 3-4 days, because let's be honeat, those crucible bounties are a pain in the ass to complete. You'd literally have to grind Roc strikes for the whole day AND do bounties to level up once a day. Faction shaders should be rare but honestly most players don't even have their faction over rank 10. players with their faction over rank 20 should be guaranteed a shader. I'm tired of getting my 20th deviant machine gun.

Isn't a faction level 2500 rep? Correct me if I'm wrong but even with vanguard and crucible bounties that would be about two days worth of full bounties and then patrol rep grinding. Give or take from nightfall buff.

I think that's more accurate.
