So this (Hopefully) will be the Husk of the Pit Thread.
Facts:
Husk of the Pit, is a common (white) Auto rifle.
It is a level 10 weapon.
As a 30 I was doing little more than 25-40 per shot, dont expect to kill things on par with you quickly, or even in one "clip" (not here to argue what Amunition goes into)
Can be upgraded into the legendary weapon "Eidolon Ally" through filling a progression Bar labeled "Cannibalism" by Hive Kills only, no other race will count, then using an "Enbalming Orb" obtained from Eris at Level 3 Reputation.
Is the only known white weapon that has a progression bar and can be upgraded.
Fun Fact: When equipped the icon by the ammo shows a Pulse rifle, but the menus say Auto rifle.
Drop Information.
It has been found so far by killing specially named Hive Knights called Blades of Crota.
It is not a Traditional Drop, such as an orb or pyramid, but a Raid style Drop, meaning it simply appears on your screen and in your inventory after the kill.
The Location of the Knights is irrelevant be it moon or earth, mission or patrol, any Blade of Crota will do.
A largely preferred strategy is to simply load the Level 24 difficulty of the Fist of Crota mission on earth, summon a sparrow, and bypass the starting enemies to reach the "Ritual" (Three Acolytes praying to a greenish orb) and kill the Blade of Crota that then spawns, return to orbit and Repeating until obtained. This strategy though easy, is time consuming, largely due to load times, and mentally taxing, due to many repeats of load screens, kills, and voiceovers (I might lose it myself if I have to hear about Sardon one more time).
Personally I gave up and got mine whilst out on patrol doing other bounties. So my suggestion is this: Stop for a bit, got get some fresh air, grab some bounties that you can do on patrol, and keep an eye out for the "The Minions of Crota have started a Ritual..." pop up right above your ammo. Thats what I did and it worked for me. Don't ignore the Blades of Crota and you should have your own Husk of the pit in no time.
Eidolon Ally:
The HOTP, just got older and wiser, and is now a legendary Auto Rifle. The magazine size expands to a whole 42, the attack rises to 272/324, and gains Cascade (melee kills increase reload speed for a short time) and Rangefinder (Aiming increases effective range). It also has a higher reload speed and a slightly increased impact. The much higher attack really helps versus the HOTP. It starts with Accurized Ballistics (impact & range over stability) then gains CQB Ballistics (stability over range & impact) and Aggressive Ballistics (impact & stability over range, also my preference). Following that column, you have Single Point Sling (Increased weapon swap and Aiming movement speed), Flared Magwell (Increased Reload speed), and finally Fitted Stock (Increased Stability). Bring Relic Iron for the Upgrade Party, and 12 Acendant Energy. Also you will need the Crux of Crota (Still assumed as a Hard Mode Only drop from Crota and Is (confirmed) an Exotic Material like Exotic Shards) and (assumed) another buttload of hive kills for the final upgrade node, called Burgeoning Hunger, for your Necrochasm.
Please leave, questions, comments or suggestions.

1 ReplyMy suggestion for those who hate sitting in loading screens and want glimmer alongside this is simple do earth patrol and go to rocket yard. 2 possible spawns that spawn about every 20 minutes. Certainly slower but fewer loading screens and you can get glimmer
